I just switched to Maternal Fetal Medicine ( High Risk OBGYN) there is alot of Dr.s in the practice but, so far they are all wonderful! They are very aggressive with treatment and that is what I wanted! My last Dr.s were very lax about this pregnancy when I asked if I would be treated as high risk the one I didn't care for said not until you show signs. I was like hello I had a preemie in 05 ( now a healthy rambunctous 3 1/2 year old) and a M/C on August 12th, and I had bleedding issues throughout my first trimester. "I think that warrants High Risk"
so I called MFM at Magee and asked if I could make an appt for a consult and they were absolutely wonderful on the phone! I had my consult and they were more concerned that I had a preterm delivery than with the M/C, because I had only one. Which they are putting me on alphahydroxy synetic progesterone injections also known as 17P. I start those on the 2nd or 3rd and am really nervous! The 17P is thicker than Karo syrup and the needles are thick and 1 1/2" long, the worst part is they go in your hip right above your butt cheek!
I also will be getting cervical ultrasounds up through 24 weeks to measure the length of my cervix, if it changes at any time I will go on medication and get a cerclage which I hope they can put me out for, I am not one to enjoy pain that is for sure! If anyone has had one and can let me know what it all entails I would greatly appreciate it!
I had my first US last Friday and they were able to show me the baby which was very active (thank god) although it was very hard to see because the baby is so much bigger now! I am 15 weeks 4 days! So I am now going to deliver at Magee in Pittsburgh! I used to call it the baby factory because that is primarily what they do. But that is where you want to be if you have complications they have a very high level NICU and that is where I want my baby if born preterm!
