How do boring people spend new year's eve?  As someone who is proud to be boring, let me tell you how I spend my New Year's eve:

First of all, at around 8:00, after saying prayers with my kids, I send them off to play in their room for the night.  My husband and I then plant ourselves on the couch and turn on the TV.  Usually we will flip through the channels until we find something interesting to watch, but there have been a few years that we have been known to spice things up a bit by watching an old movie.

Sometime around ten, we start to get tired so we retire upstairs where we continue to watch TV from our bed.  Around 11, our eyelids are droopy and we turn off the TV and go to bed, but not before ringing in the new year with a glass of sparkling cider (not champaigne.  We're too boring to drink!)

I will admit that we usually end the night off with a bang after the lights go out (if you know what I mean), but we have to be extra careful in that department considering the fact that two of our four children were a result of our "celebration".

This year my oldest son is attending a New Year's party with the youth group from church.  Since the party does not end until midnight, this will actually be the first time since before we had kids that we will actually be awake when it is time to welcome in the new year!

Happy 2009 to all!

happy new year 2009

Sounds like fun, at least you will have eachother.  My husband is a limo diver and will be driving around drunk people all night,I will be home with our youngest two girls, hoping to still be awake at midnight to talk to hubby ... if you ask me, going out is just too overrated...2009 glasses

Dec. 31, 2008 at 7:32 PM Sounds like the perfect kind of family night! There is nothing boring about it - IMO, boring is hangin around with a bunch of drunk strangers who dont care about you and just want to party. Here's to the love of a "boring" family! Cheers!

Sounds a lot like ours..... :o)

My youngest was 15 minutes from making it to midnight...  LOL  We tried hard to keep her awake.  The boys thought it was fun to torture her when she'd start to slip away...
