2008 was a great year for my family and me.  Nothing really stands out from last January.  I suppose we were recovering from Christmas.  In February, Noah's classmates elected him as the first grade Valentine prince.  March was an eventful month.  On March 7, Ethan played in the snow for the first time ever.  It was little more than a dusting but we sure had a great time playing in it.  Then just one week later on March 15, we had a terrible hail storm.  The hail was larger than a quarter!  I was afraid that it would knock the windows out of the house, but we were blessed and had no damage.  For Easter, we celebrated Palm Sunday in church and had an egg hunt at church as well.  We dyed Easter eggs the old fashioned way.  The boys and I also made a bunny cake.  In the spring, Noah played baseball.  He loves to play the game.  His team wasn't very good.  They won a few games but more importantly they all had fun. Noah also earned an Accelerated Reader field trip to the Tennessee Aquarium.  We stayed busy while school was out over the summer.  Ethan turned 4 on June 9.  We had a Cars birthday party with many friends and relatives.  He shares a birthday with my mom.  Our anniversary in the very next day.  We really should spread these things our more!  The boys had two weeks/ two levels of swim lessons and they attended two weeks of Vacation Bible School- one week at our church and another week at my aunt's church.  Unfortunately, Noah also knocked his front teeth loose and had to have them pulled.  Luckily, there was no damage to his permanent teeth.  Then, just one week later, he broke his arm.  It was the second time he broke his left arm in 18 months.  Luckily, it wasn't a bad break and healed quickly.  We grew tomatoes and ate fresh veggies from my parents' and other relatives' gardens.  Corn was our favorite!  My DH also changed jobs over the summer.  He's much happier with his new job.  It has much better hours and it pays more too!  Because DH took a new job, we didn't get much of a vacation.  We did get away to a mini-vacation with my parents and sister.  We went to the Smoky Mtns. It's our favorite place!  We went on several small hikes.  This fall, Ethan started to school.  He's in our new Pre-K program at school.  Most days he loves to go.  I was a bit emotional about my baby starting to school!  We also put a tent up on my parents' land so that we can go camping.  We love to spend time there.  It's nice and peaceful.  My DH also surprised me with a great birthday present.  The new truck I had been admiring!  I love it!  Ethan and his class also participated in Read for the Record and he is now a world record holder.  November and December are very busy times for us.  My sister and my parents took Noah and Ethan to an Auburn football game.  They loved it!  We made a road trip to visit out of town relatives and Santa made a surprise visit.  We had a couple of extended family dinners, a Christmas parade, Ethan's Christmas program at school, Ethan's Polar Express Field Trip, Noah's 8th birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, the church Christmas program, several other Christmas parties, Christmas with DH's family, Christmas with my family and a visit from Santa.  Despite everything bad that was happening in the world in 2008 my family had a very blessed year and for that we are very thankful.  May 2009 be just as wonderful for my family and yours!

That's such a nice post Marie.  It doesn't have the feel of those nasty Christmas letters people send telling everyone how perfect their lives are.  Your post is written in such a friendly, easy manner.  I enjoyed hearing about your lovely year. I wish our school did reading rewards like your school does.  Have a great day!
