What does it take to find a good Dr. to help our kids with disablility's?

My son is going to be 8 this month. He has ADHD and emotional problems that are yet to be properly dignosed. I have had bad experiences with dr.s Every one has a different diagnoses. I want to find out exactly what is going on with him so that he can be treated properly. All there answers are is to put him on adhd meds. When he has more important issues to deal with. WHy is it soo hard to find a understanding helpful dr? I am at my breaking point. And I just want to cry. Does any one out there understand what i am going through?

daniel is 5.and we just started to take him to a doctor in november.the doc still doesnt have a diagnosis.he doesnt have adhd.but he is very hyperactive.my hubby hates the doctor.and deventualy we want him weened off of the stuff.daniel isnt on very much of a dose but just enough to calm down his behavior.i am a very anti-drug type of person.but,we had no choice.and we as parents,made changes in our home also.you should look for a group here on cafemom about adhd.tracy

Giving a special child is really a challenge and trials in our life.  Just always remember that you are a special mom and you  can be strong to love him more and he is an angel to your family.  Be strong and have more faith in God.  Have a nice day and Prayers always for you and your family.
