I'm a work at home mom. I make wooden toys and sell them on Etsy.com.
My son inspires my work. I first got the idea to make toys when I was pregnant. I wanted to make something for my son and I was no good at crocheting and knitting. What I am really good at is woodcarving and painting. I then thought that I could extend my toymaking and sell them online while staying at home to care for my son.
My toys primarily have a flair of Asian design since my husband is Chinese. The intersection between East and West in my toys reflects my home life.
I do all my woodcarving on my back porch in the open air. I am always at the mercy of the weather and it is a constant struggle to balance work and family. I still get by because I am doing what I love.

A Boy with Autonomic Dysfunction - The Miller Family
Our Special Life
Oliver was born after having suffered a stroke while in his mother's womb. The resulting brain injury is called Dysautonomia (Autonomic Dysfunction). His doctors believe the stroke was the result of the miscarriage of his twin. Oliver is completely blind and his underdeveloped brain stem makes basic physical functions a challenge. In spite of all this, he is a happy, go-lucky, 12-year-old boy, and his mom wants people to meet the real Oliver, not just his medical hardships.
