If I Were To Die
How would you feel if I were to die?
Would I even matter? Would you even cry?
Will the memory of me always with you stay,
Or be like a mirage to slowly fade away?
Would grief overwhelm you, or relief, instead-
Will the bondage of love and loyalties be dead?
Would you finally claim me as your mother,
Or would I still be just the woman that birthed you for another?
Would your heart be shattered from the loss and pain,
Or would you feel rid of the invisible chain
That ties you to me through genetics and blood,
And courses through your veins with the force of a flood.
If you were to die, part of me would too-
For a big part of my heart is my eternal love for you.
I would live on, but I wouldn't be whole
Because each day without you, I'd lose part of my soul.
