I have figured something out about them and I am not happy about it.  My dh works for the Forest Service, so we tend to live in rural, lower income areas.  We lived in Western Arkansas for 2 1/2 years. The closest mall was 90 minutes away. Now we live in SW Virginia in coal mining country. I buy Parents Choice diapers because they are cheap and do the job. They are not the most perfect diaper, but for our budget, I can live with it.

We have a vacation home near Winchester VA in northern VA. It's considered a Suburb of Washington DC. Hardly rural and hardly low income. When we go there I still shop at the super walmart and pick up my Parents Choice diapers there.  The diapers I buy in Winchester are quite different than the diapers I get in SW VA and rural AR. The ones in Winchester have stretch tabs and are not as thick and bulky. At first I thought that they were just coming out with a newer version and fazing the old ones out, but I discovered this over a year ago, and I am still getting the lower quality diapers in rural VA. What is the deal? I think there is a conspiracy. I think I should contact WalMart and demand that we should all be treated equally, no matter where we live.

LOL! I know I have way too much time on my hands. I do wonder what their explantion is.

I know what you mean! I live in Knoxville and we have about 10 different Wal-Marts. The ones on the high income side sell really nice, but expensive stuff. While the one on the poor side sells very cheap products. You are very right to be worried! I've noticed the difference with Parents Choice for that is what my daughter was in till we got her potty trained.

That's what I figured, but shouldn't they all be the same?? I think so.

I did part of the Arquest diaper study which makes parent choice diapers, I had never used them with my ds.  When we did the study the diapers worked well for us so I went to buy some here in Colorado.  They were not the same.  I was upset, we use them in addition to cloth, but we have to be very careful because my son's skin is super sensitive.

I did ask and I was told they are made in different places, which is all fine and dandy I understand that part but I do not understand what makes the diaper different

I have found that a lot of the ones I get in my neck of the woods can be very stiff, even hard where they fold. They also bunch up between the legs when they are wet. If they soil the diaper, the section between their legs get so bunched up that it gets poop in between their legs that is no longer covered with anything. So it also gets into the crotch of the pants. The "lower" quality ones have a blue on the outer edges. Somehow they just feel different. The better ones have a stretchier tab and don't tend to bunch up as bad between the legs. I haven't found any hard spots on the better diapers. I'm just thinking they need to get all the plants on the page making the same diaper. It's like if you go to Mcdonalds in one state, you should get the same Big Mac as in another state. right?

Have you tried the white cloud diapers? They're a little more pricey but not by much. I've been using them for months now and never had a problem.
