My DH and I were sitting in the living room watching some tv while Hailey was playing in her room with the baby gate up not ten feet from us...or so we thought. With no previous attempts, no noise, no indication of what she was doing, she got the baby gate down and came running in the living room laughing. We figured my husband didn't put the baby gate up right, which he's done before. So again, I showed him how to do it. We went back to watching tv and SECONDS later, in runs Hailey. So I put up the gate again and peeked around the corner to see how she was doing it. She is now tall enough to do it like it is designed to open. So I put the gate up higher in the door frame, and out she came. She squeezed under it like it was nothing. I have to put the gate up at a very specific point, too low, she opens it, too high, she goes under. She's not even two! My SD couldn't get through the gate till a few months ago! Crap. And the playpen...almost useless already too. She pulls back the hard part of the bottom and tries to tunnel out by making a hole in the fabric bottom. She's of course intent on getting into everything and throwing a fit if I tell her no. What in the world am I going to do with this kid?! I have to watch her every second. I worry at night that she'll learn to open her door next and get into something harmful to her. Of course I have what I can baby proofed, but she's figured most of it out already. She gets the outlet covers out faster than I can. I remind you, she's not even two yet! Damn having smart kids. :P

When my D was that age, she got past 3 baby gates, and two locked doors! Good luck!
