Was this gym teacher outta line?

Can any other mom tell me why friends and family can't sit in on girl's basketball practice and watch? I have always thought you could. I dropped my daughter and her friend off at practice and they told my daughter to leave....needless to say I was already gone so she sat outside in the cold and dark for an hour and half by herself. I am steaming but of course she could have gone inside to ask for a phone but she said she was scared of the lady gym teacher. Anyone have any suggestons on how I sould handle this? I sent an email to the principal but have had no response so far. If I don't hear something tomorrow I need to take another step but I don't want my child targeted because I have said something.
