I have these blocks that I made for my son and they spent a few months sitting with a bunch of other toys in his toy box pretty much unused. It bothered me a little because I put so much time into making them and he didn't seem to be especially interested in them.
Recently, I spiffed up his room and stacked his toy blocks on a table because it looked really neat. Now he plays with them all the time! I guess I just needed to showcase them someplace where he would notice. Since I usually stack them, he loves to go in and knock them down.
Today, I heard the weirdest sound coming from down the hall. At first I thought that I left the bathroom door open and he was playing with the toilet. I noticed it sounded like wood and I thought he was getting into my art supplies. It's interesting that I automatically assume he is getting into trouble! Anyways, I went to see what was going on and he was in his room having the time of his life banging blocks together. I have to admit that the sounds of the blocks hitting each other was kind of neat. Anyways, I'm glad at least he likes the blocks I make. Sometimes it feels like my husband thinks woodworking is a waste of time. It's a good think I make toys for children and not for him.

Our Special Life
Oliver was born after having suffered a stroke while in his mother's womb. The resulting brain injury is called Dysautonomia (Autonomic Dysfunction). His doctors believe the stroke was the result of the miscarriage of his twin. Oliver is completely blind and his underdeveloped brain stem makes basic physical functions a challenge. In spite of all this, he is a happy, go-lucky, 12-year-old boy, and his mom wants people to meet the real Oliver, not just his medical hardships.

I have some wooden blocks and my son wouldn't play with them by himself at first because he didn't know how to play with them after playing with them with him he understood and makes towers with them he's now two years old. He's into his Mega bloks now but he'll still play with the wooden blocks. When he grows up the blocks will be very special to him not becuz they were toys for him to play with but that his mom made them for him. Have you tried stacking them and see if he does it also or helps you? Its fun to watch them play and learn form that play. You have a cute little one.
