Thank you for walking through the door that was opened for you. By doing so you have opened more doors for my son, and other children like him. Those with disabilities. 60 years ago your father could not have been served in local diners because of his skin color, 60 years ago I would have been told by doctors to place my son in an institutaion and forget he exists. Because of you I now beleive that eventually we will have a president that sits through the national anthem, and no one will be offended because he can not stand, a president that has to trust others that his hand is on a Bible, because he can not see for himself what the book is, a president that will take the oath of office in sign language, a president that does not have a hand to put on the Bible because he was born without them. Thank you for giving me back the hope that my son can be anything he wants.

I don't think people realise how important today really is. I'm glad to see that you my friend, do.
I too have the hope that our children will be able to be the President, and that one day the world will see them as you and I do.

What???? Sarah Palin is the one who has a disabled child! And wasn't FDR disabled? Yeah we already broke that barrier about 80 years ago!
Like Obama or not, I don't see how this all ties together. You do realize that FDR was in a wheelchair and couldn't stand for the national anthem, right??
