I watched the inauguration and I thought it was drab to say the least. I really want to know where the 170 million went.  For that kind of money it should have been a spectacle to watch.  It makes you wonder if he needs 170 million dollars to do an Inauguration-- that was stereo typical what is he gonna need to do all this other stuff he keeps talking about.  I don't know if he's noticed but the Fed's running out of paper to print our deflated currency on already.

I'm being cynical but at heart I hope he can do this and I want him to succeed. Our country needs him to make good choices right now on everything from our economic situation to our national security.  So, far all I hear is more of the same.  It amazes me that his devout believers have yet to realize his promises come with expiration dates.

I see him coming more to the center and I'm afraid that may actually be his undoing. Pelosi and Reed have already voiced thier disgust with the idea he seems to be saying he isn't for a new tax hike in this economic climate.  If that's true he is at least listening to the great economic minds who have been saying this for the last few months when he began saying he was going to let the Bush tax cuts expire and allow a higher tax on capitol gains.  (This is one of those exparation date promises I mentioned before).

This does not please Speaker Pelosi at all or even the NBC morning show who believe that it is time for "middle America" to fill the pain and make some sacrifices.  (Tom Brokaw said that this weekend and so did Pelosi last week, as well as VP Biden on the campaign trail)

Coming to the center may not last long if Obama sees himself being Bushified.   Honestly the hate in this country for our in effective government hasn't gone away. Right now it's just been silenced with the Hope that Obama will actually do something different as President and please all the people all the time. As soon as he can't fulfill his promises or certain groups don't get what they thought they were going to get from an Obama administration the fuel will reignite.

I wish it wasn't that way but it is.  I don't think he will get it as bad as President Bush did but hate is a nasty thing and some people in America refuse to do anything but let it fester and blame someone else for their demise.  When Obama can't save us from ourselves, then what?  If the economy continues to crumble and he can't pump enough stimulus into our pockets, without bankrupting our country, then what?  If he gets stuck in Afghanistan like Russia did, then what?  How long will the anti war code pink crowd be quiet?

So, I can't hail King Obama today because I remember he is just a man, skin and bones, like the rest of us.  He doesn't have any magical powers that can make Washington get along or please all the citizens of this country. Let alone please the world. Today he enteredthe political mine field and it's just a matter of where he steps now before something blows him up.  Bush was once adored too!  Maybe not this much with the creepy posters and the religious followers but he came to office with a 67% approval rating as well.

It's not about the President, or the man that determines thier legacy but the unexpected circumstances that happen while they are in office that makes up the citizens mind about a President.

God bless Him, but he has some bad circumstances already, we just better hope nothing else in the world changes.

I'm just fearful for those Hailing King Obama today..... It's a scary thing when people have thier beliefs rudely ripped from them and the reality of life is presented to them.  People turned on Christ as well.

The official costs was 40 million, all contributed by private funds.  Obama has at the very least began his term by producing hope that our countrymen have not had in our life time.

Jimmy Carter brought hope to his term as President, so did Ronald Reagan, Clinton, and Bush.  All for different reasons from the cold war to recovering from recession and scandals.

No, hope is an age old thing and many Presidents have brought that with them.  If you look at our first four Presidents and  you'll see it's part of our history. Each President is greeted well because of Hope. Problem is hope is fleeting because many hope and few act! Obama reminds me of Jefferson.  He was smart,  adored and known as a man of the people.  But history reveals admiration comes with a high price.

It was way more than 40 million and not all in Private Funds.  Heres one of many links talking about the cost both private and federal funds. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Inauguration/story?id=6665946&page=1

I kind of feel funny that everyone has him high on a pedestal, too... Worshipping him as a God nearly... I agree with you, he is only human... Flesh, and blood just like us... No special powers... He may do a good job, and may change a few things for the better but he doesn't have the power to change everything, and please everyone... He is no different than any other President who has served before him... Well, maybe his skin color... But we are all the same underneath that skin color... Just human....

And for the record, I don't think that Obama is a bad person... I just think he's just a man who is our President now... And that alot is on his shoulders now... He's going to be making alot of decisions for America, and I hope he makes the right ones but he's only human so he may make a few mistakes... Just remember that he's only human... And can't see the future... He's not a God... And he doesn't have all the right answers...

I feel like the problem is everyone is looking for someone to fix everything, and they are looking in the wrong places... No man can fix these problems... Only God can... We need to get our eyes back on God, and follow Him... And quit thinking that man can fix our problems... Because some things are out of mans hands...

We don't "worship" Obama, we just thought he was the better man for the job. And no realistic person can expect him to fix all that's wrong in this country... But he represents change from the past 8 (in my opinion) disastrous years, and THAT's what I'm focusing on. Do I think he can fix everything? No. But I do believe he'll set us on a course that eventually will...

You may not worship him but some do.  I have heard so many people say they believe this man will free them from the tyranny and oppression we suffer in the USA,  because we don't have "free" health care, or more entitlement programs.  These are generally the rob peter to pay Paul crowd.  They believe wealth is not earned in our country it is a privilege and we all deserve a piece of the pie. Even if it's off the back of our wealthy indentured servants.

Then you have the Bush haters who need so badly to make Barack a God so they can continue to believe Bush is the devil.  They need him to come in guns blazing  end the war, fix the economy, solve world hunger and make sure every child in the world goes to college.  Just so they can continue to say how bad Bush was.

Others ignore the very premise he became President due to his personal ambition and hard work. No matter how often he says "we have to..." all they hear is " I barack Obama will..." Because they continue to wait around for someone else to be their voice instead of speaking up for themselves, working hard and truly using our freedoms  to be what they want to be. No one did the work for him, he had to do it. But some still believe he will somehow right all the injustices in the world so they will never have to endure a hardship or the calluses life brings those who go out and get what they want.

Today represents all of this.  So many Americans desperately seeking a saviour because we don't feel we are the Government, that we are the people anymore. Instead we seek a King to provide for us, think for us, and solve our problems for us.  We are so enamored with our dear leader our children sing his praises, we put his picture every where, and we do not allow anyone to speak ill of him.  You have to admit this is a brave new kind of leader we seem to be willing to create and embrace.  But, I don't think this was Obamas plan I think the people did this to themselves willingly like always because we think theirs something in it for us.  Some still don't grasp the age old saying "theirs no such thing as a free lunch."
