Bunny's Journal

Thoughts and Ramblings

I was tagged by Momof3inTN. I've done versions of this in the past so there may be some repeats, but here is goes!

1. My name is Bettie, but my whole life I was (and still am) called Bunny by my family and basically anyone I knew up until I left my ex-husband and decided to go by Bettie as part of my whole new life. Bunny is even on my High School Diploma.

2. I suffered from years of infertility and didn't have my children (with the help of a great fertility specialist) until I was 34 (lost this one), 35 and 37.

3. I've been kind of flaky and flighty in my past...suddenly moving, changing spiritual beliefs, changing men, changing my style, drank a lot, did some drugs...I like to think I was finding myself. Although this has been me for several years now and I am sure and secure in who I have become, I think my family (dad and sibs) secretly keeps one eye open for me to do something crazy again at some point...LOL. Can't blame them really! LOL.

4. I followed God's voice and in it found His plan for me in 2002. My search for me ended there...although everyone's life is ever changing in some ways.

5. I was formerly married to a man who, although deep down was a great loving person, was deeply troubled and eventually ended up being sentenced to life in prison (not for murder or anything...repeat offender). He was parolled this past October. He hid his past and stayed out of trouble for the first four years of our relationship. I stayed another 3 after that. I would still consider him a friend and care a great deal for him, although I have not spoken to him in over 2.5 years.

6. I remarried to Doug in June 2003.

7. I had a huge wedding that was not my vision at all and so do not have very fond memories of. In fact, it makes me feel sad. My MIL ran the show and I felt I was too new to the family to object...things might be different now (all around) if I had spoken up, but that's water under the bridge I guess.  Maybe someday we will renew our vows OUR way.

8. I have a very controlling MIL (can you tell from the wedding comment...LOL?)

9. A few months ago, I was moving out and planning to get divorced. My children (and my faith....although my leaving would have been for biblically legitimate reasons) kept me here way longer than I really wanted to be. I finally got to the point I was DONE.

10. The Love Dare program was instrumental in saving my marriage. I didn't want to even try it (I, in fact threw the whole thing in the garbage one night) but Doug said he was doing it with or without me (after seeing the Fireproof movie and saw a lot of himself in the husband), so I prayed about it and decided and to give it one more try. I'm so glad now that I did. Things arent perfect...maybe they nevr will be...but it's so much better.

11. (see #10) I have been unhappy in my marriage, for the most part, since about a month after we married. Last week was the first time I felt Butterflies in my stomach thinking about my husband since before we were married.

12. I have a tendancy to get off track...LOL. Can you tell? I think this list was meant to be more random than this. Am I getting too personal? See what I mean about flaky and flighty? LOL

Okay, back on track...

13. I love all different kinds of music but my favorites right now are Family Force Five (who I saw in concert and they were AWESOME) and Jimmy Needham.

14. I used to weight over 300 lbs and was a size 28-ish (on a good day). I now weight 170-180-ish (I dont weight myself anymore) and wear a size 14.

15. I had gastric bypass surgery in December 2007.

16. I am turning 40 on February 3!

17. I am a racial minority in the neighborhood where I live. I LOVE it here.

18. My kids often talk in "Spanglish." My daugther takes a spanish class every Monday, my kids are both obsessed with Dora and Diego and (see #17) all of our neighbors are Mexican so my kids will regularly speak spanish to us in the middle of an English conversation.

19. The Spanglish still baffles my husband. I have to play translator a lot...LOL.

20. My mother died 15 years ago of breast cancer. She never met any of her grandchildren or children-in-laws.

21. I went through two months of various testing for breast cancer myself last fall....finally opting to have a lumpectomy. The lump turned out to be benign (PRAISE GOD).

22. My favorite TV show is House...followed closely by American Idol, when it is on. I could miss any other show, but I can't stand to miss new episodes of these. I even watch the House repeats on USA every night (at least they are on while I do other things). I got my husband hooked too.

23. After I had my son, just in case (because we were "done" having children), I got my tubes tied. I have always regetted it in some ways. After doing some reseach, I believe some of my female issues stem from this and (maybe just because I am turning 40...IDK) I REALLY wish I could have another baby lately.

24. We are a green/natural (for the most part) family and getting greener as we go. We recycle everything that is recyclable, use our own bags or paper at the grocery, this spring we plan to finally start that compost heap and we buy green products and natural healing products rather than chemical and drugs whenever possible.

25. I have an autoimmune disease called Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME). It had me nearly bedridden at one point. GBS helped to lessen my symtoms greatly (thought I was in remission for a while). I am slowly getting sick again, but not too bad so far. This time I am going for natural healing options rather than drugs. I fortunately have a doctor who respects this.

Thank you for sharing! I like learning more about my friends.

Fireproof comes out on Tuesday on DVD, I'm thinking of renting it. My husband is an atheist though so I don't know how well it would go over with him. Might rent it for myself instead. I really want to get the book "The Love Dare" but again, don't know how that would go over with the hubby.

I LOVE House! My husband gets upset, he says, "You are not getting me addicted to another show!" But he'll sit and watch the reruns with me! LOL

Thanks for sharing.

I have never seen Fireproof but have heard great things about movie and book.  I do love watching House and American Idol.

xoxo
