I was watching 17 and counting last night.  I was watching the episode of them getting ready for John's wedding.  John took his older sisters to Florida to help with the wedding.  While they were gone they showed how things were going back home, and well it was a little crazy.  Their father and John both made comments how much they depend on the girls to help out with the little ones.  I think it is sad that they are so dependent on the girls.  The girls are just little moms.  It is sad for all the children.  Why have so many children that they don't get your time, and you depend on your older children to take care of the younger.  I know that is the way they choose to live but I can't help to feel a little sad for those kids.

I think the family is great and those kids are learing that life is not about them!

Sucks that they have a freakin' sign up sheet for 'one on one' time with mom or dad. I also don't agree with the older girls having to take care of the younger ones. Sure, they should help out, but to expect them to act like mother's when it's not even their child is going over board.

Mark my words... one or more of those children are going to rebel sooner or later and it's not going to be pretty.

I'm just glad those poor girls got to have a little bit of a "vacation."

Overall, I think the Duggars are..."ok" but I really take issue with the smug, condescending attitude they have toward the average-joe population, telling us that it's all so easy because Michelle is so organized.  Well holy-tater-tot-casserole, I would be pretty organized too if my three daughters did the cooking and the cleaning.  But they have their own lives.  One is a senior in college studying engineering and working a part time job.  And even with that load, she's been coming by to help with her grandmother as she recovers from a terrible accident.  My middle daughter goes to not-home high school and puts in a good 18-24 hours a week into swim team.  On her one day off she works at the Y as a lifeguard.  She plans to go to college next year and become a teacher.  My youngest goes to regular school, is on a swim team and regularly babysits for neighbors who pay her generously.  So, my kids, while enjoying and building lives for themselves, don't have time to help run my house.  (Although they do help out a little here and there.)  But if they did take on the cooking and the cleaning, heck yah, I could be a whiz at organization and have a baby every year and hand it off to a teen nanny too.  Instead, I prefer to let my children choose their own paths and live their own lives.  Sure, some Duggar lover is going to attempt to brow-beat me and tell me the Duggar kids all have NORMAL (like the average kids of today)  career aspirations too.  Uh-huh...sure they do.  I'll believe it when I see it.

The other thing that bugs me about them is their bizzare awe they express when they discuss all that the Lord has provided to them...could they ever add that it is also the generosity of others that provide for them?  Just look at the credits at the end of their shows, they have so much stuff donated it's not funny.  Did they ever stop to think about how stupid that sounds?  Do they somehow feel that the Lord finds them so superior to the rest of us that He daily bestows material goods from numerous businesses on them?  GMAB.  It's not a BLESSING it's a BUSINESS.  You are being used, not blessed.

Hey thanks for letting me spout off on the Duggars on your journal!  LOL

Have a good one.

there was something odd i noticed when i seen that episode. they had NEVER kissed.  ok, i understand the whole purity thing for when you get married.  but never kissed before?  come on lol.  i had also noticed the "hair style" that the women seem to have, not just the duggars either.  kinda reminded me of a sect with the clothes n such.

don't get me wrong, i love the show.  it puts me in awe at how such a large family survives financially. but it also makes you wonder what goes on behind closed doors when the camaras aren't around.

did you see the one where they get married? One of the vows requests the wife to understand that her husband is superior to her! WTH!

We live in a christian home though not anywhere close to how strict they live but I understand that my husband is head of house, you cant both hold the reins...GOD has blessed us with our own roles in which we are best suited for nothing weird about that.
