This past weekend was swim championships.  Although this is a very long event I love it.  The kids swim in different sessions with their age groups.  So I was there all day Saturday and part of Sunday.

Saturday morning was the 8 and unders.  Since Jordan is 7 this is the group she swims with.  She did so well and had a great time.  It was so much fun to watch them swim and some of the kids are so little they just make it to the other end.  After her IM, which is 1 lap of each stroke, she was a little sad.  She wanted to get a medal and she did not place in that event.  After that she swam 1 lap of breast and she one her heat,  She was so happy that she got the heat ribbon and I was so proud of her.  After that she had her last relay and then she was done.  All and all she had a great day.

Saturday afternoon was the 9 and 10 year old.  We had 20 girls and 12 boys swimming in this session.  It was so different then the 8 and under kids.  The kids needed to be watched at all times and the dynamic of this age is so different.  They have started the whole liking each other thing and the conversations are very interesting.  Devon is very well.  He and one of his teammates have always been neck and neck in the IM and Devon has never one.  Saturday he was winning and I was screaming so loud I thought I  was going to lose my voice.  In the end Devon got touched out by the other swimmer, It was such a good race.

The last event was the relays and one of our boys was sad because of some conversations that went on with the girls.  So we started talking and I told the boys, Why don't you swim your fastest and show the girls that you can actually beat them.  The boys have never beaten the girls in this event.  So the girls swim and they go get changed.

The boys come up and there are 4 of us yelling at them.  Another parent on the other side of the pool was laughing at us because we were telling at them and jumping up and down.  She said we looked like a bunch of fools.  Anyway after the boys came out the went and looked at the posting.

The girls got a 2:33.86 and the boys got a 2:33.56.  SO the boys beat the girls for the first time and it was great.

Sunday was another day of swimming.  Jared had a great day.  Although he is not the fastest swimmer he loves the sport and always does his best.  He ended up taking 5 seconds off both his events and getting 12th place and 25th place.  For Jared that is great.  The kids that swam in the morning on Sunday are so easy because they are old enough to know how this all works.

By the time they were done I was done.  I waited to wish the older kids good luck and then I went home.

I love the sport and I am so grateful that my children love to swim as well.
