Liner Notes

Until recently I was always offended when people referred pro-choicers as pro-abortion. I mean, no one is pro-abortion right? That's just offensive. And then I realized that it's nothing more than rhetoric and name calling. I realized I didn't give a crap what people wanted to label my position. It wasn't going to change my views. "Oh, you think I'm pro-abortion? I'm so offended that I think I'll change my position." Umm, no.

Call my beliefs what you like. I still firmly believe that the government should not legislate my reproductive rights. When you resort to name calling it just shows that you're incapable of rational, productive debate. I think when people get offended by being called pro-abortion PLers tend to say things like "Being called pro-abortion is offensive because you knows it's wrong!" No, it's offensive because it's inaccurate. But you go right ahead and call my position whatever you like. I don't change my beliefs because I was called names.

Amen!  Being pro-choice is about maintaining the rights of all women.  If one does not believe abortion is right, don't have one.  Limiting the rights of others for your views is wrong.  This is not an area the government should regulate.

You know what?  I am pro-abortion.  There are times in my life where I would have seriously considered one.  I support other women that have gotten an abortion.  No one wants to do, as in, "hey, let me get knocked up so I can have an abortion!", but for some people it may be a necessary option.  And I don't buy tha taunts of being called a baby killer when it is done early enough.

That's an interesting thought, because as a pro-life woman, I get really tired of being called "anti-choice." But you are right, it is nothing more than name calling.  Kind of like we're back on the school playground.  LOL

It's true - it works both ways. You can frame someone's opinions with any words you like, but no one is going to change their minds based off it. I don't think anyone's ever become PC because they were called anti-choice and vice versa. It's the last resort of desperate women who don't have the skills for debate.
