Ill admit, I dont have an organ donor dot on my drivers license and I didnt really plan on putting one on there, but the last week changed my mind on that.
My 38 year old aunt, mother of a nine year old is going to die without a heart transplant. Her heart is in such bad shape that it is failing her kidneys causing her to need dialysis. Right now she just finished the last dialysis treatment that her heart can handle and was airlifted to a major hospital for testing to see if she is a good canidate for a new heart. She is on the list right now, and the way things look, there are few donors, and she probably wont make it more than 6 weeks.
Im not trying to push organ donation or anything, Im just venting and putting it in writing that I changed my mind and when I pass I want to give my organs so someone else, maybe someone, a young mother in my aunt's shoes, can have a second chance at life and atleast be around to see their kids graduate from high school.
If you are reading this please say a prayer for her and my family.
Update:
My aunt had her transplant and was doing great, just needed to get off of the ventillator and then she would be home, probably by the end of the summer, and then all of a sudden she went into a coma, and had no brain activity. She passed away on July 11, at 1:05 am, 5 days before her son's 10th birthday.
The cause of death was said to be that her body wasnt use to the new faster flow of blood through her heart and it caused blood pockets on her brain, which then started leaking down her brain stem and spine.
Now she will never get to see her son get his license, graduate, get married, or see her grandkids. RIP Dawn.
