Hi, my name is Meg Watt. I live in Stroudsburg, PA, and I need your help.
On February 9, 2008, my brother was one of four boys (three were nineteen, one was twenty) killed by carbon monoxide inhalation in a devastatingly avoidable accident. The boys were working on repairs to a house, and were killed by the carbon monoxide fumes of a generator they were using for electricity. None knew what hit them; it was a tragic blow to four families that will never be the same.
BUT YOU CAN HELP MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE AGAIN!
FIRST AND FOREMOST, please install carbon monoxide detectors in your home. They are inexpensive (around $25 a piece), and can save your life. You have a smoke alarm; you should have a monoxide detector too!
Now that we know you're protected, buy an extra carbon monoxide detector and either mail it to me, or donate it to your local fire company for their distribution to a family in need, in the name of FOUR FRIENDS MEMORIAL.
Get the word out!
CONTACT:
your politicians and tell them that you think homes should be fitted with Carbon Monoxide detectors, just as they are required to have smoke detectors!
your local media and tell them THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STORY and that it could SAVE LIVES
your family and friends; no one understands the harsh reality of this silent killer until it strikes
My brother, Michael, wanted to be a doctor and to save lives. Help his dream to be fulfilled by saving your life, or that of someone else!

Comments:
I refuse to live in a house without a Carbon Monoxide detector. When my kids were small, one winter night we all suddenly got sick with flu like symptoms. God was watching over us that night because a warning went off in my head...GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT. We all went outside and sure enough, soon we were feeling better. The furnace repair guy told us, the next day, that there was no way our furnace could be fixed, the firebox was full of holes and it was a miracle we hadnt died from CO poisoning. Because of my exposure to it, I can now tell if it is building up in a house, my throat feels weird.
Another thing that I recommend. A digital detector. They may be a little more expensive but it has a digital display so you can see instantly if there is CO in a room. I use Nighthawk brand. The company is great...if your detector quits, they will send you another one FREE
I am so sorry about the great losses. For your brother and the other families. God bless you for putting the word out! Voted Popular as well.
