Christ's resurrection guarantees victory over death for believers!

An unnames psalmist wrote longago: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" (Psalm 116:15).

It took grieving the loss of my husband to cancer less than two years after he accepted Christ, to open my eyes, and heart, to the comfort this verse affords. Before that, I had never pondered why the death of a saint (a Christian) is so special in the Lord's eyes. But when I learned that one of the meaning of the Hebrew word for precious is "costly," I began to think in terms of the precious blood of Christ.

Reading Psalm 116:15 in the light of the transcendent woth of Christ's death on the cross, gave me a new appreciation for God's special interest in seeing sefely home a sinner saved by grace.

Although I still mourn the loss of Pete, my husband of almost 55 years, I am comforted by the image of the good father in Jesus' parable about the lost son in Luke 15:11-32. Seeing at a distance his wayward son heading home, the father ran to meet him, embraced him with loving arms, and welcomed him. I am consoled by the picture in my mind of Pete's heavenly Father welcoming him home the same way.

I believe the arrival of every saint in heaven is a tribute to the preciousness of Christ's blood. Through His sacrifice on the cross, and by His ressurrection, death's power to keep us from eternal life has been destroyed.

But what about those of us who are left to deal with personal loss? The fact that "Jesus wept" at the grave of His friend, Lazarus, shows that grief is a part of the human condition.

Grieving over the loss of a loved one does not show a lack of faith. But remember this: the death of a believer is precious in God's sight; therefore, how we grieve over the death of our believing loved one should also give expression to our hope of eternal life.

We are not to grieve as "others who have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13). In our grieving, let us honor the precious blood of Christ, that makes precious in the sight of the Lord, the death of His saints.

Great post.  And so timely for me since the loss of my father last month.  I, too, believe that my Dad was met by the open arms of his loving Father and that brings me great comfort.  Blessings~

Jesus weeping also shows that it's a part of God's make-up as well as all those emotions emanated from the Father to help us control flow of chemicals in our body-God may not shed tears, but emotions=chemical changes to God too and his emotion for us is great.////

I suffered great loss in 2007.I always joke that if my Pap didn't get into heaven--none of us will.I do find comfort in my faith, however it aggravated me so ,when many fellow Christians suggested I rejoice. When we are in pain,we can not rejoice. Our pain is not because we do not want our loved one to be with our Heavenly Father, mine was because I'll not share the physical life again.I worry I will not recognize or have that love of a person as I did on earth. We will continue to live and serve God in Heaven but the fear of the unknown is what many grieve. Will we recognize our family and share that same love or is it a common love shared?I know I may seem selfish.I always was when it came to My Pap. LOL Maybe I need to write a post of what people believe heaven will be.
