Induction to Avoid Cesarean for Large Babies

Recently I’ve heard from several women that they will be inducing labor before their due date, or shortly afterwards, to decrease the likelihood of a cesarean section surgery. The theory is that by forcing the baby out sooner, it will be smaller and more able to pass through the pelvis. Macrosomic (any baby more than 8.8 lbs) babies are thought to need extra help to get out of the womb. But evidence illustrates a far different outcome than the one they’ve envisioned.

Sadly, most inductions (early with the intent to prevent C-section), end up having c-sections.

Well, Josiah was a 9 pounder, and I'm 5'2''- two good pushes and he was out! Too bad there is so much baggage in the medical profession these days..

Unless the mom or babies life is seriously in danger, inductions usually do more harm than good....all the common reasons women think and are told they need to be induced are crap, dont know why doctors continue to push them on women or why women cant just wise up and do their own research to see wether its REALLY necessary or not, grrrrr!
