Time Is Tough

I am a mother to six children, 16, 12, 11, 8, 5, and 2 years old. With so many children times have always been a little hard, but now more then ever. We are eating at the Soup Kitchen more often, once a month visits to Amazing Grace, going to Salvation Army, to get bread. I have been eating much less, milk only go's to the smaller children you name it I am trying to stretch a dollar to feed eight. Food Stamps don't seem to make it throw the whole month. I am hungry; I pray my children are not.

Where is the hope that the cost of living is going to go down? I was reading a book and the author was explaining that her mother was like clock work, that every day of the week you could always know what was for dinner, I am the same way. When I go to the store I buy all the same food items. We receive $400 a month, with that I have to feed 8 people, so I shop smart but a few weeks ago I could not even buy the same things I always buy with that money. With the price of food, if I can't make it how is everyone else?

We don't have a car, so going shopping is a big "to do" I have found a good friend that has a van. So I have gone to the extreme and have changed grocery's store! I went to Price Right, I used to shop at Food-mart. The first time I went to Price Right I was smiling and talking to ever person that passed me, and saying, "I can't believe this!" I could have kissed the man that was checking me out. I have never gone back to Food-mart.

But now we can't even get to the middle of the month with out worrying on can we spend the next check on a little of food to get us by. With children of all ages, they all like to eat, and boy can mine eat. What makes it hard is that they don't understand that they can't just eat everything. They sneak food, and hide it, how do you tell your child they can't eat?

Me all I need is milk, bread, eggs, cereal, and peanut butter in my house. But now we can't seem to keep that in the house. With one person working, rent, lights, gas, dippers, wipes and pull-ups, I am so worried.

Maybe you can call the church and ask for a ride and they accept EBT. They really have great stuff and your participation helps them help others.
