I don't know what was said in school this week but my son came home on friday and declared that he was "Too old for bears". He wanted me to take all the stuffed animals from his room and give them away!
On the one hand, he is 12 so he's trying to act older. On the other hand he is only 12 (you know what I mean) we all need a hug sometimes - even us big ones.
So as I was going through the collection of furrys and putting them into a bag for the charity shop, he began to look quite sad. I took one of the bears (one he had won at the school fete for the "guessing the bear's name" game) and put my son's PE t-shirt and shorts on it. They were a bit big but looked kinda cute.
"There," I said, "This one is not a teddy bear it is a school mascot and every boy who does sports needs a mascot" He began to look a little more cheerful and hugged his special teddy oops, I mean mascot.
I think he may just change his mind about all his furrys so I'll just put this bag into the bottom of my wardrobe for a few weeks. if he doesn't mention it; then, I'll give them to the charity shop but I'll keep them there in case he feels the need for another teddy - oops, I mean mascot
