Ice Storm

 Well we just got our power back on a bit ago. Took us 6 days. Sooo many others still without. The damage around here was so awful. All our trees have had the tops broke off at least. Some uprooted or just broke in half. Looks like a battle zone.  We have at least 4 holes in our roof. Woke up Tues. morning with a limb sticking through our bedroom ceiling.  We at least have wood heat so we stayed warm. Also we have cisterns for water and I cooked on the wood stove. We made it much better than those with city water, wells, and all electric heat. Man it was a rough storm for sure.

Glad you are ok. Where do you live? My friend has been w/out for 6 days. Sorry, you had to go through, such a mess.

I'm so sorry about your roof..I can relate we had a hurricane that did that to our roof.  Hope you get it fixed...stay warm.  Jenny

I'm in Kentucky. It has been really bad here. We still have people without power. Alot are staying at shelters and with other people. But our main roads are finally clear enough to pass.

Oh wow sounds like you guys got hit hard.  Hope everything gets repaired.  We had an ice storm in Dec 2007, thankfully we weren't hit hard, but my grandma had to live with us for 10 days b/c she was w/o power.

Sorry to hear about that storm! I agree your family made it better than people in the city. With a wood stove, wood to stay warm and a cistern your family knows how to survive! I was busy this year thinking that we were going to get hit hard here in MN but we havent even had much snow. We have a well and I can light out propane stove with a match if the electricity goes out. So then there was the problem of how to heat the house. We had to tear down the chimney because it was so old it was crumbling. So I bought a kerosene heater. I hope to get another one for next winter to heat the basement also. Because if I know Minnesota, I know it will not be a dry winter next year! God Bless and I hope things get fixed soon!

thanks mmommiz.  Everything did get fixed but it took a yr or so around here.  This happened in 2009. Been awhile.   :-)
