Well... this is more of a vent than anything else, something I want to get out of my mind and forget about, and since I have no friends close by, and I don't want to call me dds and vent about their dad, (whom they put on a pedestal) you are my lucky victims.
My husband informed me last week sometime that his friend and his wife (I will call them R & L) wanted us to go out to dinner on Friday night, and I said "oh goodie" These are not my favorite people, they irritate me, they are so strong on their political views, and they are the opposite of mine, they tend to talk so much about themselves and they repeat themselves such as storied we've heard before, but I am willing to put up with them since we have so few friends around here to do anything with. (she once made me feel so mad because she implied that I should be working full time, but that's a whole nother story)
I informed my hubby ( at the same time he told me about Friday nite) that a friend of mine that I used to work with at the local hardware store had invited us to a surprise party for her boyfriend on Saturday, my dh has met them both and seems to like them, so no problem.
Well, Friday comes along and my husband told his friend that he didn't want to go out because he was too tired, which he was, he couldn't sleep the night before.
Saturday rolls along and his friend calls and wants to go out that night, my husband was working on the plumbing in the basement, so he came up and told me (this is what I thought he told me) " R and L want to go out tonight I figure we'll do something with them and then hopefully they'll leave around 8 and we can head over to the party". hmmm, I'm thinking but the party starts at 6, but maybe it will work. so I am trying to decide where we could go locally to eat, when he comes up from the basement and I asked him when he said R&L were coming over he said " I told them we would eat about 6:30" I was flabbergasted, "you mean I am making dinner?!!!" I almost went through the roof, I had no idea what I was going to make, I hate to cook, and I don't even like these people much!
Well it all turned out, I made a no peak chicken dish, with salad, green beans, dinner rolls and apple pie and ice cream for desert. (of course I had to run to the store for some of these items).
The thing that gets me is, we never made it to the party, not that it's that big of a deal, we probably wouldn't of known anyone else, it just irks me that my idea for the evening was totally forgotten.
So there's my vent, I was angry for quite a while, and I now know I will get over it, but men! who needs them anyway.

Well... killing spiders, shoveling... um...that's about all I can think of ;)
(((((hugs))))
Oh, I can see mine doing something stupid like that too and I'm getting po'ed just thinking about it!! I'm sorry that he made you so mad, I don't blame you a bit!! I would have refused to cook, but that's just me!! Mine likes to tell me that we aren't going somewhere (like to my inlaws) and then he'll say oh, I'm going to run by there for a minute and then call and ask when I'm coming. He did this for Thanksgiving. He didn't want to go to their house at first for their dinner. I told him that had I have known we were going there, I would have gotten my cooking out of the way sooner. I told him to have a nice time by himself!! I could have killed him!!
You should have made the worst meal you could think of. Then maybe they wouldn't bug you anymore. LOL
