So I went in for my genetic testing results, and really I wish I just didn't go. Seriously...why for... an over reacting Doctor in my point of view.
So here's the deal, I test negative for both genes that could cause breast cancer YEAH...
So he did Colaris Gene testing too, I didn't hear that that day he order the test I was only thinking about the lump in my breast...
So for the 5 mutations they test for MLH1 MSH2 and MSH6,,,,
I test deleterious for MSH6 or postive....
Okay, then the next thing out of his mouth is he would suggest removing my uterus and both of my ovaries to reduce my risk of ever developing cancer here and WHY,,,because what I've read I only have an increased risk of developing cancer there 12 to13% chance by age 70 and and increased risk up to 71% of endometrial cancer by age 70 which he said is easy to treat he wouldn't worry that one....
UHM so why take my uterus for a 12 to 13% risk.... YA, NO WAY.... and yes thats what I told him...
Oh, and lets not forget now I have to go through all kinds of stupid test in, that I really don't think I need because honestly I really don't think I'm ever getting any of this stuff...I'M JUST NOT....
So now he wants be to have an upper endoscope done, a colonoscopy done, a salaline sonogram and ultra sound....really,,,,
and he also mention something about removal of the colon for prevention purposes...SERIOUSLY...NO WAY... I think this man has lost his mind...really I loved this doctor now I think he has went way over board...
After much research today the risk of developing cancer with a MSH6 gene mutation is lower than all the rest and honestly...no WAY...
So I'm going to several doctors for second opinions..because this is just crazy... really crazy...(the doctor for these test was my gyno)
Hugs...Lisa
Update...P.S. My Family Doctors has also stated before this gene test,,,that I am the perfect example of perfect health I have awesome blood test everything is perfect, my heart is healthy, I have great better than great blood pressure... 110/51 all around perfect health...

go see a female dr. my mom had a male dr who took a similar approach, and after going to a female dr, she was a lot happier with the outcome
I agree - you def. need second opinions & maybe just a different Dr. altogether. That doesn't sound right at all. Hang in there - just sounds like he is overly precautious. Love & Hugs!
No way!! That Dr. sounds surgery happy to me. That's ridiculous!!!! I'd definitely get a 2nd opinion and then a 3rd if need be!! Find a good Dr. who will listen to you and give you options besides wanting to yank out things from your body! Big hugs to you and lots of love!
I agree 2nd opinion and get a female Doc. I swear male docs just don't know what there talking about I've had a female doc ever since I was prego w/Linds and it was the best choice I ever made...they are so more understanding..
Big hugs sweetie
Definately get a 2nd opinion.. I agree a female doc might be better also. They take more into consideration being a woman and all.
Sending you lots of love and good vibes!
Get a 2nd opinion, it sounds a little crazy to go and remove your uterus because of that small chance.
Take care and I will be thinking of you:)
I agree, this doctor sounds way too aggressive. Who knows, he may just be surgery happy or he may be afraid of lawsuits in the future. Trust your inner wisdom and ask around hon...this kind of surgery has risks and it can send the hormones all out of whack afterward. Sending you so much love.

So sorry your dealing with this, I do know exactly how your feeling..I am a breast cancer survivor myself that has the braca gene... I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction, and a complete hysterectomy with oopherectomy ( ovaries out).. In the end I decided that since we wanted no more children I would have it done.. It was the best thing I could ever do... No more pms , no more friend once a month..Sure hotflashes happened.. But its managable.... Good Luck too...
