I was thinking about the little things I do to help myself out some times and thought I would share some of my mommy tips, I also was wondering if anyone else has any tips they would like to share with others too.

1) Most mornings while getting ready for the day, we don't have much time for anything other than toast or cereal. I got tired of that for my kids and they LOVE pancakes which I was making on weekends.

First, I buy the mix that all you have to add is water and then doctor them up quite a bit, I add Cinnamon, or dehydrated strawberries, or cocoa powder, or banana flavoring etc to customize them a little bit, they can have different ones all the time. I also make more pancakes on the weekend than we would normally eat. Once they are cooled, I put them in freezer food storage bags and freeze them. Then on the weekdays I pull out what I need and microwave each one for 30-40 seconds. This way my kids get to have the pancakes they love and I don't feel bad for serving cereal all the time. You can also use this when you go out of town and don't want to continuously stop for fast breakfasts.

Also on the pancake, waffle, french toast front; I have found that the fastest, easiest way to cut them up for starving children is to use a pizza cutter. It makes quick work out of cutting them up and you get pretty uniform pieces. This is especially great for younger kids that need smaller bites.

2) I have found that socks seem to disappear during washing or drying. I have bought a lingerie bag (a mesh bag with a zipper) I place the socks in the bag while washing and drying and you still have full pairs. The hardest part is just getting the socks into the lingerie bag in the first place.

3) I have made up a list to keep on our refrigerator for any babysitter. It has the kids full names, their birthdates, their allergies, our names, our address, our home phone number, our cell phone numbers, my parents number, and the name of our family doctor. I also gave a copy to our daycare provider. Nobody wants to think about anything bad happening, but if it does then your babysitter or daycare provider will know right what to tell emergency personel.

4) I have told my doctor my parents names and given them permission to have my kids treated in the event something should come up and I am not available (usually my parents watch our kids for us) or to get care started sooner than I can get there.

5) When we go out to eat anywhere and the waiter or waitress comes to get our drink order, I put in the kids food order at that time. Then it comes out sooner and they can start working on it before they get cranky and start screaming etc. Plus even if they finish first, they are pretty full and then content coloring or talking quietly until all of the adults are finished.
