First I will admit, that yes I have been watching A LOT of documentaries recently. However my belief systems have only been, I feel, encouraged by these movies; they have not come from them directly. While I have felt like much of the crap I have gone through in my life was for a certain reason, I was meant to grow in the way that I did to complete a purpose, much of my I guess for lack of better terms, "prophetic growth" has stemmed from conversations with one of my best friends from high school and her mother. (Major kudos to you both)

It has been a firm belief of mine (shared with very few others) that around this time in our future (specifically around 2012 due to the end of the Mayan calendar, though I am skeptical that that date really hods any kind of significance) there will be a Great Change in the world. We've seen this build up for over a century. Read the news articles -- the world seems to have reached a point where science appears to be meshing with the Spiritual (for more info on this, please refer to "What the Bleep Do We Know" which is a movie about quantum physics that can be rented through Netflix). This is a time that the world will cease to be as we currently know it -- not necessarily an apocalypse that will wipe out the whole of humanity. I feel that's a bit extreme even for me.

While it would be fabulous to live in the Zeitgeist/Venus Project society of having technology perform a of the mundane "work" of every day needs, and let our society grow into the world of "all play, little work", it's just not feasible. (In fact I believe they have had at least a couple of Star Trek episodes related to this issue, and they didn't turn out so wonderfully.) Also, you would have to practically force a huge part of the world's population (laughable because much of it does not own DVD players and televisions) in order to even get your message across... well, it's just not feasible.

No, this change must occur. The value of ALL world currencies are crashing -- we have even heard on the news that things like "stimulus packages" are now being referred to as "revolutionary insurance" Isn't it ironic how the government that led our nation out of tyranny is now afraid that we will rise up to lead ourselves out of the somewhat WORSE tyranny they have created for us instead? I know this may put me on some sort of hitlist, if the conspiracy theorists are correct, but to me this doesn't make a difference. If I would die unexpectedly, that would only further to serve the Truth of the matter.

So what is this "Change" that I am blathering on about, you are probably wondering. This is my theory (and please to remember that this is OPINION not "the Gospel truth" - I have never in my life professed to knowing it all and I will not start now.) Our ways of living are being outgrown by the people on our planet. Our elected officials have seen a desire for power and capital take over their desires to truly "lead" our country. There are too many rich men and corporations in their pocket books to efficiently lead us anywhere but down (and anyone who may have a desire to truly do good anyway has so much opposition that nothing will be accomplished.) Our economy along with a those the world over are on the fritz -- this will most definitely lead to a crashing of all monetary values. Our elected officials will not survive a strangle hold loss of monetary backing; the government as we know it will and must fail, as is mentioned in Zeitgeist, or there will be no way to start over.

In the same way that a computer can be rebooted after it crashes; we enter the BIOS and change settings, doing repairs as we go, to try and ensure the operating system works differently to have more efficiency and avoid crashing (in the same way) again. We must fail, as this is the only way to grow and learn from our mistakes. Learning is key - it is evolution. Our species will never advance to a higher evolution of consciousness without first learning how to get there.

But this is wandering. My apologies. My theory continues as thus: our economy will fail. Our Government will tank, to follow suit. This leaves us with the corporations, which as we suspect hold the power that does exist. These companies are tied in with the government; should it fail, they must either 1) try to "take over" to keep their operations afloat, or or 2) they will crash along with the government.

"Well, this is a good thing, isn't it?" you might say. If they crash there will be an end to much of our problems. Well, not quite. Electricity, ways of connecting to the internet, many of our modern conveniences, are currently controlled and perpetuated by corporations. It is through folly, manipulation, and ignorance that many of the world's nations have become this way. If these things do fail modern convenience ceases to exist. And I am sorry to say, I feel that the majority of today's young adults are not prepared to live without conveniences. It will be our responsibility to "lead" when the time comes, so that our children and future generations can avoid a complete reversion to the Dark Ages of mankind.

This is not to say I believe we will cease to exist. I believe that humankind is a strong species; over centuries we have grown, learned and adapted to endure all the things that life and time has thrown at us. This will be no small feat by ANY means, but it is something that we can deal with, if we have preparation and education on our side.

So, now comes the hard question: should this hypothesis of mine actually come to pass, what can we do about it? As I mentioned before, I am not a "genius" and I do not by any means hold all the answers. But life has led me down this path, I have had adequate experiences, and it is upon each of us to freely share the knowledge we have to ensure that our species does not cease to thrive.

What I believe it will take is reverting to the "old" ways of things. Not that we have to give up convenience completely if we can learn to harness the Sun and Wind and Water and even the power if the Earth itself (geothermal energy) before our technology gets away from us. But we need to relearn from our Elders the original ways of dealing with certain things. It is not difficult to grow your own food; there are ways to do so even in cities. We must relearn to make our own basic needs - clothing, food, shelter. We must revert slowly back to small community living (what is known today as Eco-village or Intentional Community living - you can Google this to find much more of a resource than I have to offer at the present). It is by once again gathering in tight knit communities (although we will have the added advantage this time around with having much in common with our neighbors and the Global community at large) that each group can be self sufficient.

We can learn to grow crops, raise our children, BIRTH our children in the ways that our ancestors did. Revel in the community that SHOULD be, not the commercialist and "Me, me, me" attitude that now permeates the media and how we are taught to bring up our kids and how we were brought up ourselves. This is the attitude of all those corporations; those that profit on our greed and want. If we revert back to the "thrifty" attitudes of Need, we may find ourselves much more satisfied with our own existence (which is something that thrifty and minimalist people have been sharing for years, but we have been conditioned not to listen to their wisdom.)

As it stands -- I need to go and take care of my two little ones. But I think to this end I have currently accomplished explaining myself as I meant to do. But I do welcome any and all questions and responses; I will not grow if I do not learn I am wrong and why; this is the ultimate key to life. We live to learn, to pass on that knowledge to those who follow us, who pass it on to those who follow them and so on. We can not survive if we do not learn, and that's just the way it is.
