I'm supposed to pick one song that takes me back to high school...huh. Not possible, really, because there are entire genres that take me back to high school.
So let's pick a year. If I were going to pick freshman year, I'd say anything by Madonna. Sophomore and junior year were highly unforgettable, but I'm pretty sure there was a lot of Bon Jovi and Motley Crue blaring in the background.
It was senior year that expanded my horizons beyond the overly-made-up hair bands like Poison and into the classics like Led Zeppelin, Journey, and Styx. That was when the right person came along to show me that there was more to life than I'd ever known possible. Music was only a fragment of that, but still, it was a pretty significant one.
If I had to pick one song, though, that sums up the best things I got out of high school, I'd pick "Faithfully" by Journey. I only listen to it when I'm in the mood for a virtual time machine.
