i'm a semi-mature woman (unless you ask my hubby or my bff sherri is around) and i do realize that everyone has made mistakes. but should we all be judged by them for the rest of our lives? at what point is it pointless to continue to bring them up?
why do i ask? well today i was told a story about a grandmother telling a child (not mine, btw.) that thier mom (the child's mom) had done crack and was addicted. now i know doing drugs is wrong. but this particular mom did get herself cleaned up, and has made something of herself. although this mom does many things i don't agree with, crack is not one of them these days adn has not been for around ten years? so why would someone tell a nine year old child such a thing about thier mother? and there was no follow up. no "but she made something of herself" or "she's come a long way" (she has) or anything like that. just "she did crack and was addicted."
i'm baffled. this child is not ignorant by any stretch of the imagination and now this mother had to have a conversation with this child about drugs and all that was a bit over her head. at her age, isn't dont' do drugs, they mess you up enough to get the point across? do we really need to explain teh different types and what they do to children who are still all about webkinz and spongebob? is it really necessary to force these kids to grow up so quickly? did this grandmother not realize what the reprecussions of this would be?
some people should not be allowed to have kids or grandkids.

I don't think that it is up to the grandmother to tell the child anything it is her mothers place! I know that people make mistakes and that is human as long as you learn from them!! If you are a part of the childs life help her to get through it!! She needs someone to look after her.
