Great Backyard Bird Count 2009 starts TODAY!

This project is GREAT FOR KIDS!!!  It's a great way to spend some time with your kids, learn about birds, get outside for a walk, and do something that gives data to real scientists to study bird populations.

The GBBC 2009 starts today (Friday) and runs through Monday.  You can count as many different settings on each day if you want to.  Or count once.  It is so easy and every year more and more people are doing it!!  Cafe Sheri posted about it in Daily Buzz.  And then again as part of National Bird Feeding Month.

Here's how it goes -

Check out the GBBC 2009 website.

Learn a little about birds in your area.

Print out the tally sheets.

Count the birds!

Submit your data online.

Read about last year's results!

Have a great time doing this, and you'll be teaching your kids and yourself a little bit about science!  And know you are helping scientists study bird populations, and also bird conservation efforts.  The birds THANK YOU!!!
