The star is my card. Everytime I get a new deck, it is the first card I pull off the top. Doesn't matter how I shuffle it. I imagine if I had a brand new unshuffled deck it would be one of those cards that falls out when you pick it up just so it can be seen. The star predicts hope and healing and is something I think I need a constant reminder of and is why it continues to show up for me. I once had a vision of Kwan Yin and I find it interesting that like many versions of The Star, she is shown with a lotus blossom and pouring waters of mercy and hope.
There is a beautiful story on The Star- http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/basics/star.shtml
I like at times to take a comparison of several decks I own to note the similarities and subtle differences between suymbolism in the cards and what they may mean.
Similarities of- The Spiral Tarot, Rider Waite, The Housewives Tarot, The Motherpease Round Tarot, The Haindl Tarot, The World Spirit Tarot, and the Renaissance Tarot.
All decks include:
a series of 6, 7, or 8 stars, usually in a circle, and often with one star larger than the others and in a central position.
a woman, nude or semi nude, in or at a pool of water (exception- housewives tarot woman is clothed and in a "pool" of prizes.)
one or two vessels present. (exception- haindl tarot the water is pouring through the woman's hair and no vessel is present)
flowers
most of the decks include:
a bird, usually in flight.
pouring water
some include:
lotus blossoms
the spiral tarot and the haindl tarot both include the same mystical symbols.
the most different-
The Housewives tarot is a woman in a pool of prize ribbons holding up a winning pie. the pie is adorned with stars and flowers.
Personal Meanings:
I feel like the stars on all cards indicate guidance ona journey. For generations explorers have looked to the stars to find their place in the world. The circular pattern often seen indicates to me a reminder that all things are cyclical and that what goes around comes around.
The woman being bare but in or above a pool is indicative of a need to be vulnerable before being able to truly cleanse ones self.
The vessels carry hope and mercy.
The flowers are hope that grow over time. The lotus blossoms are the source and manifestation of enlightenment.
I think the prize ribbons in the housewives tarot bring hope of abundance.
There are subtle differences in all of the cards but The Star is the most consistent across decks of any of the cards. It is usually the most beautiful and most often brings a message of hope and peace.
