I had my first photoshoot yesterday with people other than Seth & the kids.  It was so exciting.  I was so nervous about it the night before, I couldnt hardly sleep LOL.  I had only met this lady once before, for a few minutes, and it was her, her husband & their 2 year old daughter doing the shoot.  Of course I didnt charge, Im not a business YET, but I just did a little shoot for them & she is coming today to check out the proofs & pick what she wants, and she will just pay for the prints & maybe a picture cd.  They turned out pretty good, I might post them later if I get her permission.  Looking at them, though, I wish I hadnt used a black backdrop.  Her husband is part indian & part mexican, and their daughter takes after him, so their hair blended in with the backdrop quite a bit.  I JUST got my studio lighting & my backdrop stand in today, so maybe next time I will have better lighting & that wont happen :)

Im still super excited about it.

Also, my aunt called me last night & said one of her best friends, a lady I used to work for, has a son who is a senior in high school & she wants to pay me to come to his swim meet next week & get some good shots of him.  I almost died.  I WILL have my Rebel by then, with my big, sweet lens & stuff.  I dont know.  I wouldnt even know what to charge.  I plan on just charging the cost of the prints & stuff, maybe a little extra for my time coming up there & stuff, I just dont know.  Im so overwhelmed.  Mom has showed my pictures to women at her work & they seem to like them as well, and there is the possibility of me doing THEIR kids' pictures too.  Before I even have a business, Im getting customers, LOL.  I didnt expect all this at all.  I wasnt trying to get a customer base, I was just taking pictures of my kids & stuff, but its spiraling.  Thats why Seth talked me into getting the Rebel.  I will show you pictures of what I got.

Im keeping my old Canon as well, because its my very first 'good' camera & it will always have a special place in my heart, no matter how many times I upgrade :)  Plus, I need it to take video on, since these cameras dont.

This Rebel kit I bought comes with a Canon 18-55mm Image Stabilized Lens, 8GB memory card, a wide angle lens, 3 piece UV filter kit, black leather carrying case for my camera, digital flash (shows in the bottom picture), a big tripod & a mini travel tripod, USB card reader, LCD screen protectors, lens cleaning kit, memory card wallet, & a lens cap holder.

AND...I bought this for it as well.

Is that not the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?  LOL.  I can picture it sticking out from the front of my camera already.

And I bought a wireless remote for my camera, for self-portraits & a lens hood.

Whew!

We are talking about holding off on the Phlebotomy class, even though I want to do it, I think it would be a better idea to focus on photography more.  I want to take blood, yes, but photography is something Ive wanted to do since I was a kid & its really my one & only passion.  Seeing how we just spent $800 in equipment, I think Im going to hold off on school & do this and see where it takes me.  :)

Im really excited this is getting started, but its going out of control & Im overwhelmed, completely.  It will take some getting used to, but I love it.

I have the Tamron lens.  Won't be exactly what you expected.  It's nice, but not a lot to photograph with unless you're shooting REAL far away.  Congrats though!!!
