Ok, here's the scoop... On Saturday (Valentines Day), at my shop - The Vintage Attic, we had our annual Valentines sale. Like always we served chocolate covered strawberries. I bought 10lbs. of chocolate for the fountain at $8.00 per pound and 14 boxes of strawberries at $5.00 per box. Let me set the scene for you.....The chocolate was melted and flowing over the fountain and the smell of the chocolate devoured every corner of the shop. It was heavenly! The strawberries were large, bright red and sweet as a summer day. As customers walked in the front door of the shop, there they were-- the chocolate and the strawberries just luring them in. If I were a customer, I would have been drawn to them and devoured as many as one person could eat (and I did). But the customers did not eat them. I even asked them "Would you like some chocolate covered strawberries?"They would just look at them and say "No thanks. So, at this point, I don't know why they are not eating them. I checked the table setting ...it looked beautiful, fresh and inviting with the strawberries in the most feminine ironstone dish, and the table linen bright red with white polka dots that just called your name .So then, why aren't people eating them? To top it off , a lady stopped in and said "oh you have chocolate covered strawberries, I was just down town at the candy shop and they sold out of them." So I asked her if she would like some. I even offered to box them up for her . I told her that we had plenty, and they were free. She said "thats ok, no thanks ." I wanted to say "IT'S NOT OK TAKE SOME ALREADY! " So I thought to myself ...maybe next year we'll sell them and people will buy them. Now I can't say that no one took any of them, some people did. But most did not... WHY?
