UGH! what a day! I had a CSE meeting for my son Andrew today. I knew it wasn't going to be good, he has had some major behavioral problems both at school and home lately.
The severe ADHD is still a given, even strangers notice it right off the bat. They have noticed changes in his sensory issues as have I. They have seen an increase in under responsiveness and a decrease in the few things he was over responsive to. They recomended trying to get him a sensory ball and swing for at home, he allready has a weighted blanket for bed time.
They are now questioning the MR they insisted he has. They say that if he would just cooperate and do the work, he would probably be on age level or close to it.
They have finally seen what I have been fighting for years to tell them, his autistic traits. He has started growling at teachers, WTF is up with that? They recommended getting him officially DX'd with the spectrum disorder. I was told by SSI doc that she was 90% sure he has PDD-NOS but have to have another doc confirm before school will accept the Dx. If he gets the "official" Dx then he would get an autism specialist to work with him both at school and that would come to our house and teach us better ways to deal with him. It would be great since we have been floundering on our own for 11 years.
The school also recommending testing for anxiety disorder (which I have suspected for the past year) and ODD.
And the hubby wonders why I come home from these meetings with a headache and exhausted lol.

Oh honey, I hope that this works out for you. I know what a struggle it is...my grandson has PPD and ADHD...it can be hard when you just have one special needs child but when you have several it can really try all of your financial and emotional resources. Just don't give up...the squeeky wheel gets the grease so let them know you are there....
