I have spent the last week at home because I have been sick. Although I think sick is an understatement. Last friday morning at 8am, I went into the ER for a horrible pain in my left side, after 12 hours in the ER, getting admitted to the hospital, and alot of pain meds, they informed me I had a kidney stone and would likely need surgery. The next day (valentines day no less) I went under the knife (without any cutting!) and they blasted my 5 mm kidney stone (completly blocking my kidney from draining into my bladder) into a million peices, put in a stint, and sent me home.
I have spent every day since saturday in continuing pain due to the damn stint. Then again yesterday, I am on the floor in my bedroom, bawling, moaning, and writhing in pain. Tyler promptly took me back to the ER. They again, gave me an IV, Pain meds, and this time sent me home. This morning I woke up and headed to the urologist to get the stint out. The whole procedure took about 6 minutes and it hurt. After a nap, there is NO pain at all. WHY WOULD THEY PUT SOMETHING IN MY BODY THAT WOULD CAUSE SO MUCH PAIN?
I am still exhausted, but at least i can get out of bed. I am happy to be able to be up and around. I am worried about the baby in my belly who has also spent the week all drugged up... and before anyone bashes me for taking pain meds, please try dealing with kidney stones! I know in my heart my baby is going to be perfectly fine, but I still feel guilty for the whole week.
Comments:
I am sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon. The baby will be fine don't worry about taking meds.
I am so sorry you had such a rough time, I am glad to hear you are finally feeling better! Don't worry about the baby, he/she will be just fine and you needed to have those meds, don't you let anyone tell you different!

Oh hunny I am so sorry! I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly! I got kidney stones when I was 7 months pregnant with Kayla and had to go through the next 3 months with the stint in! It was so awefull! So much pain and discomfort. They gave me a prescription of Percecet for the pain and I needed them to get through the pain! I know what its like! Make sure you drink lots of water!! And if you are into it eating a little piece of dark chocalate every day is supposed to help keep you from getting kidney stones (don't ask me why/how, its just what my doctor told me).
