After being inspired by Marci, who makes her own cleaning products, I wondered how exactly this was done... would it be easy?
As an answer, Erin over at About Frugal Living offers this great user-submitted recipe for homemade laundry detergent. It uses simple ingredients such as Borax and Washing Soda. You can also add grated Fels-Naptha soap or castile soap.
Borax is an awesome laundry booster that I've used for almost a year
now. It's a powder that comes in a big box, and costs under $4 at
Target. Trader Joe's sells a very affordable peppermint castille soap
for under $4 as well.
Not only are these ingredients reasonably priced, compared to the ever
rising costs of Tide and other "he" detergents, they also lack the
scary additives. I'll be trying this laundry recipe, and if you do too,
comment below and let us know how it works out!
