So today I tackled (again) the monumental task of inventorying, sorting and organizing our food, food storage system, and kitchen paraphernalia. This time, I came up with logical systems that even a blind person could follow ... which hopefully means my hubby and kids will be able to ;). The funny part is that I *enjoyed* myself tremendously! Rubbermaid has a new Premier line that is stain resistant, guaranteed for life, good in the dishwasher, freezer & microwave, and the lids snap to the containers (top and bottom!) and to eachother. How cool, how amazing, how fun! I hesitate to say this because of the army of consultants on CM, but I like them better than my Tupperware!!!! No matter what size I buy, my lids will lock. They will not get lost. These containers won't get that used, stained look. They are the Holy Grail of kitchen storage. (Okay, seriously, I think I need to get a commission on all future sales that Rubbermadi gets, because I sound like a commercial). Plus, Ziploc has "100 calorie containers" that are 1 cup serving size and they were a steal. I was able to portion out the kids' snacks in those so they are ready to grab at a moment's notice. What I want to know is if I fill one with dark chocolate candy, will it only be 100 calories? If so, I am going back for more!

Have you heard the old adage, "Simple Joy, Simple Mind"? I've always taken exception to it. My little foray into the realm of kitchen organization was a simple endeavor (except for that battle with The Thing that was growing in the back of the pantry; I can't be certain, but I think it was trying to communicate with me). It was fun, relaxing in a way, and very rewarding. When my kitchen is clean, when it is clutter free and brimming with possibilities, I feel like all is right in my world. There's something to be said for the simple mind that appreciates simple tasks done well.

OHH, I soo want to reorganize my kitchen cupboards and have the containers matching again! I used to be so true to my Tupperware, but like you, I'm falling for the rubbermaid stuff. You did a great job. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great post! You really put a smile on my face. I think I am going to have to check out those containers too.
