OMG. So Becka's 2 year well baby was today. It was at 1:25 pm. I left there at 3 pm... wtf? Honestly. There is no way a well baby should take that long.. and I only saw the nurse practitioner, not even a pedi, for about 10 min. Seriously.
So we get there and I fill out this questionaire, typical stuff, then an immunization worksheet.. well she hasn't been vaxed since 4 months lol. So I couldn't fill it out completely.
We are in the waiting room until 2pm. Then we get called to this other room, with a projecter. It's me and a few other 24 month mommas. So we are back there and 1 nurse goes over where our children should be developmentally. As if all the 2 year olds in the room would be doing the same thing, etc. Apparently the pediatricians/nurse practitioners, don't have enough time to do individual evaluations.
It seems like forever in this room. After the "slide show" the nurse tells us to all undress our kids, down to their diaper, and wait to get called back to be weighed etc. Fun, a bunch of 24 month olds running around in diapers.
Becka weighed near 29 lbs and was around 35 inches tall. :) She's healthy as a horse.
After being weighed, it was back to the room and then off to our own private room where we waited for like 20 min. Finally being seen by a nurse who checked everything and she was fine, of course.
Then came the discussion with vaccines and telling me how much I needed to get her vaccine record in etc.. it was really pushy and annoying.
3pm we walked to the car. Man was I exhausted after that! Keeping a toddler occupied that long is damn near impossible.
It will be the last time we go on base for her at all. I want to find an actual pediatrician.. gah.
Comments:
Ugh. We had a crappy ped that took FOREVER. The very last time I went to said pedi..my daughter was a newborn and was there for her wellcheck and we sat there for 5 and a half hours. I totally feel your pain. (hugs)
wow...that was a little bit disturbing - it sounds like rolling kids through an industry line on a conveyor belt.

Ack! I remember those days at Drum...minus the mass slideshow. I had to set aside an entire afternoon for WBCs, it was so pointless given that my family rarely requires "maintenance" from mainstream medicine anyway.
Anyone in the civilian world that is pushing for Universal Healthcare needs to spend 6ms or so dealing with Tricare/Army clinics. That'll slap the nonsense right out of them!
Get some rest :)
