I am the parent!

AS a parent, it is my duty to tell my child the rules of our home.  I don't have to explain myself or sugarcoat why or why not.  But being the liberal that I am I took it upon myself to give a detailed dissertation as to why I won't let my 14 year old just go with a friend I DON'T KNOW.  Oh and I also gave a brief summary as to why I would not let her go with a different friend and her mother to an R rated movie, (the mom was not even going to watch it ;she was in a different theater).  Which led to me giving a presentation on why she is also banned from house parties.  HOOWEE!  I have not done this much talking since speech class in college.  And of course all of these addresses ended in how I AM THE PARENT! Mind you, she still doesn't get it...
