17P injections

Okay so I just had my 8th 17P injection and they are really starting to hurt! I said to the Dr. shouldn't they be getting easier.....the response was NOPE they will just get worse, the muscle is pretty much pissed because it has been jabbed w/ a needle 4 times on each hip so now it is tense and they usually get worse.

Not the answer I was looking for but, what can you do!

The first 5 weeks really weren't bad but they do hurt a little more each week. They also are starting to turn black & blue which really doesn't matter but the hormone makes my hips tender and now I have a hard time walking because they also make your joints very very loose! So things move in ways they shouldn't !! I really am not complaining because these are giving me a 30% more chance of carrying to term than not taking them and that is what I want is a healthy baby!

I finally found a friend on here who has experience with these and has given me alot of insight on some of the side effects she has. Which, get this.. I have to but never thought they were from the 17P just from pregnancy. I have terrible, I mean terrible heartburn/reflux and tums aren't working at all! I got a script for tagament so I am praying that it works! Headache is another and these are the ones that make you want to cry if you hear a pin drop usually just the day after the shot but then sometimes they linger because I worry that maybe it is a sign of preclampsia (ya know, you worry about every little thing when your pregnant but, after a loss and a preterm delivery your imagination goes into OVERDRIVE) So yeah my symptoms are probably worsening because I think they are something horrible!

Most people use 21 gauge needles to get their shot, but my friend who is an OB nurse said it will be less painful if we use 18 gauge which are really really thick! But she is right because the 17P is as thick as Karo syrup so the larger the needle the easier it goes in and it is quick and over! But to watch her draw up the 17P and then put the thicker needle on is scary, I try not to watch but curiosity kills the cat! They are also 1 1/2" long and it goes all the way in so if you ever have to get these Do Not watch!!!!

The one side effect that my husband and kids can't stand is the day after I am litterally like physcho Bitch from hell.....I can't control it even know I would like to but they usually avoid me as best they can on Mondays!     Well, I am done bitching for now....by the way it is Monday!  Thanks for reading my rant!

Aww how nice of you talking about me lol. My dr gave me pepcid and first and it seemed to work for while then it didn't work anymore so my dr gave me the Prevacid which i haven't had heartburn since so just remember if it doesn't work make your dr give you something that will

K so you answered alot of my questions.  I am on my fourth shot and was concerned about the headaches (i have had severe preeclampsia with my first two).  I was hoping that they would get less painful!!!!  Good luck and I wish you a full term delivery!!!!!
