my journey thru widowhood

and how i am growing in this new life

every sunday morning in our home growing up was filled with music & dancing.

you see i am a child of hippie parents. beaded curtains, macrame plant hangers, funky clothes the works.

i was born in 1965.

the early 70's were turbulent times in america.

but music brought us all together.

so on sunday mornings my little sister & baby brother always woke up to music in the house.

sometimes it was elvis blaring . other times maybe nat king cole or the everly brothers.

my parents were always laughing & dancing , singing at the top of their lungs....off key of course.

the music i remember most & the song that we had the most fun with is

mercedes benz by janis joplin. janis was everywhere in that house.

when i was 10 in 1975 i knew every word of janis' songs, big brother & the holding company , man the memories.

those were simple days in my memories .even with kent state happening, the vietnam war, the race riots , there was music.

the recession, the gas wars, the inflation.....music.

my late husband & i have done the same with our kids. every weekend when they were small , we had music blaring, we were singing & dancing like fools in our tiny apartment at the time.

so thanks mom & dad for giving me the love of music in my heart.

AND long live the music of janis.

peace ,love & rock & roll babies~jacki
