If you are not positioning yourself as an expert in your field and branding yourself I don't see why not.  A great way to start is through article writing.  Typically I write articles at www.EzineArticles.com which is great, they get published and are put out there in the virtual world.  I have attracted so many opportunities with article writing.  Opportunities that I never believed possible.  Another site that I enjoy but is a little more tricky because you have to really realize it is not about you, you have to link to others in your writing and that site is www.squidoo.com.  I just completed a new lens on squidoo that you may find interesting.  Check it out when you get a chance at www.squidoo.com/alternative-sources-of-income.  Let me know what your thoughts are and share any of the nuggets with others.
