~Mommy~

Name? Kimmee.
How old are you? Twenty. Twenty-one this Summer.
What do you do? I'm a Birth/Postpartum Doula, in school to be a Child Birth Educator. I also paint pictures, draw/design tattoos and do cheap photography for a little extra moolah to shop with! Aside from all that I just sit at home and do Mommy things!
Where were you born? New Orleans, LA.
How old were you when you got pregnant? Sixteen.   
Are you a young mommy? Yes.
Did you want your baby(ies)? More than anything.
What does it feel like to be a mommy? It's the most amazing feeling in the world to wake up in the morning with this little child climbing into my bed, knowing that he needs me and loves me unconditionally (at least for now). It's the greatest love of all.
How do you/are you going to support your baby(ies)? We do pretty well. We've struggled in the past, for sure, as most new families do. But we've pulled through. Never had to use welfare or anything of that sort.
Are you a proud mommy? Yes! I tell him I'm proud of him every day.

~Daddy~

His name? Gavin.
How old is he? Twenty-three. Twenty-four in May.   
What does he do? He's a Master at Arms for the US Navy. He protects us from the big bad wolves. =)
Where was he born? Gretna, LA
Is he a young daddy? Yes   
Did he want the baby(ies)? Oh yes. He wanted Leland before it even dawned on me to take a pregnancy test.       
How does it feel to be a father? He says he can't imagine not being a daddy.   
Is he a proud daddy? Yes!
   
~Pregnancy and Labor~

How did you know you were pregnant? Gavin knew before I did. He kept insisting and teasing me... I found out for sure at the doctor's office when I was eight weeks along on September 22nd 2005.
What were your reactions? I was surprisingly calm. Gavin was excited!   
When was your first ultrasound? November 29th 2005. My second was Valentine's Day of 2006.
Did you get one of those awesome 3d-4d ultrasounds? Nah.
Have names picked out beforehand? Sort of. We immediately agreed on a name.
How much weight did you gain? Eighteen pounds, after losing thirteen to morning sickness.
Were you scared? At first, oh yes. I had woken up feeling sick and my stomach felt shrinkwrapped. I started spotting and I was worried. I moved my Doctor's appointment up and found out I was 4 1/2 centimeters before I even got my first contraction! I was worried most because I was still two weeks from my due date. But I've learned that babies come when they are good and ready... and Leland was good and ready, apparently.   
Did you have any complications? None at all!
Any complications with the baby? None.   
Who was your doctor? It was a whole practice.
Did you get any pain medication? I got an epidural about an hour before I delivered. I still felt my contractions, but the pain was definitely less.
How long where you in labor? Four hours.
Who was in the room with you during your labor? Oh, family members were coming in and out during labor... During delivery it was only my Momma and I. Gavin was on a plane home from the base in Great Lakes.
Vaginal or C-section? Vaginal.
How did you feel when you first heard and saw your baby(ies)? I felt relieved. I wanted to hold him the moment he was out, but they made me wait. He was silent when he was born, but breathing, looking around, so confused.
    
~About Baby~

What is his/her name? His name is Leland Alexander.   
What day was he/she born? Wednesday, April 26th 2006
Boy or Girl? Boy.
What time? 2:06 pm.
Was he/she born early or on time? He was born almost two weeks early.
What was his due date? May 6th 2006.
How many days did you spend in the hospital? Just one.    
What hospital? West Jefferson.
Did you have pictures taken? Yes.
Did you have a baby shower? Yes.
How much did he/she weigh? 8 lbs, 6 oz, but he was so tiny that one nurse guessed he would be 6 1/2 lbs, and the other guessed 7 lbs, 2 oz.
How long was he/she? 20 inches long.
Did he/she have a lot of hair? Not really. I looked like a monkey when I was born, but he has his Daddy's hair.
First person to hold him/her? Me, of course! Then my Mother.
Breastfeed/ Bottlefeed? He breastfed for the first couple of days... but then I clogged. I tried as hard as I could to pump, but nothing was happening. In the end I risked infection and dried up my milk. I cried for a few days after that.

~The Future~

Are you planning to have any more? We want lots more! Lol. Gavin said he wanted twelve, but I talked him down to six! Haha!
How soon are you going to try for another baby? We've been trying for over two years.
What do you want them to be? Boy or girl? It really doesn't matter to me. I dream about both often. Gavin says I need a little girl so that I'm not the only female in the house anymore. He says I need to have someone to do girly things with. Haha.
Do you have names picked out? Yep. =) Is that bad?


~Now~

Do they go to school? Not yet, but he will be starting this year.
How old is your baby? He's going to be three this April!
What color hair? His hair is a sandy blonde.
What color eyes? Blue, just like his Momma and Daddy!
Who does he/she look like? The inlaws argue that he looks like Gavin, but when you compare baby pictures there's no way. When you look at him and my baby pictures, he's a dead ringer for his Momma!
Are you still with the baby's father? Yes!
Do you regret having your baby(ies)? Not ever!
What would you change about your baby(ies)? Nothing!               
Do he/she suck a pacifier? Nope. He did for the first couple of weeks and then suddenly didn't want it anymore.
Does he/she sleep through the night? He has slept through the night since he was four weeks old.
Any birthmarks? He had a birthmark in the middle of his forehead when he was born, but it lightened up.
What kind of formula? He drank Similac Lactose Free until he was nine months old, when he finally tried his first cup of milk.
What kind of diapers? We've always stuck to Huggies! Now we're in pull-ups.
Does he/she like bath time? He used to love it, but he's hit that stage where he dreads it, lol!
Can they crawl or walk? He started crawling late, at 7 months. He started walking at 9 months.
Have they ever been sick? He's been sick plenty of times. It's funny, but he's a little sweetheart when he's sick!
What's your fav. outfit of theirs? Too many to count. I save all of my favourite outfits he wore in my hope chest.    
Is he/she more a momma's or daddy's baby? He ping-pongs inbetween us!   
Does he/she cry a lot? He's an emotional toddler. Lol.
Do you let your baby sleep in your bed? He sleeps in his race car bed, but he climbs into bed with us in the mornings.
Do they have their own room? Oh yes. He's had his own room since he was five months old.
