I've been doing a lot of thinking and planning for our wedding, come September, as I'm also searching for a wedding ceremony site. We want our wedding to be a weekend camping party, so I'm looking for accommodations for every type of person's outdoor preferences. So far, I'm finding a lot of ideal camp sites to be completely booked all Summer long, which is frustrating.
However, there's more to plan than just where to get hitched.
Dress? Check. My lovely friend is making my dress and she's not charging me at all! All I have to do is be her model for the rest of the clothes she makes. I'm throwing in a painting, just because I feel that would be more of an equal trade.
Suit? Check. Jason purchased a 1935 suit from my co-worker's husband almost a year ago. It was the same suit his (co-worker's grandpa) got married in, and somehow fit Jason like a glove! Jason knew immediately that it was going to be for the wedding.
Flowers? We're going to grow all our flowers in our front yard! I'm inspired by these arrangements and have begun collecting mason jars:

These, I imagine, will go on the reception tables, next to every one's plates. Simply lovely:

And, speaking of reception, instead of having a guest book, I really love the idea of setting a typewriter out and later bind together the kind words people leave behind.
Inspiration:

Since we're holding our wedding outside, and asking everyone to camp in one way or another, we thought it'd be cute to set everyone up with a camping gift package. The contents (so far planned) will be: One homemade citronella candle to keep bugs away. One homemade fire starter, just in case people are not so apt to build a fire. One map per camp site directing people to their chosen headquarters. One personalized to our wedding matchbook. And something else to take home.
Here are some of the candles I've made so far. (there will also be candles everywhere during the weekend wedding):

I hope the environment will feel something like this:

More decoration ideas - I'm extremely fond of this table set up:

My photographer will be done by my dear friend Alice Carrier. She's also doing a trade for a painting!
So far things are wrapping together nicely.
I'll probably continue to journal my progress because it makes everything feel organized and easy to find.
Comments:
i agree, beautiful... i adore those flower arrangements! your wedding will be beautiful!
I can't wait to come....and I absolutely can't wait to see Alice's pictures, I am so inspired by her. And the candles and flower arrangements...oh boy.
I really, really hope I can find some way to make this work...it would be reaaaaaaaally pricey to pack up camping gear to take on a plane. Either way, I'm determined to come see you get married!!!
Emily- Just borrow our stuff! We have a tent you can borrow, and anything else you might need - we probably have it. I figured I'm probably going to be sleeping in a cabin, because, well, I'm the bride! Let me know what you planned to take, and I'll see if we already have it.
Alia-That sounds wonderful!! You deserve to be in a cabin, lmao...you ARE the bride! I'm soooooo excited about this, it's going to be so much fun!
I feel all your thoughts. I only have 102 days until the wedding and last night i scowered the internet looking for ideas on how to incorporate the peacock feathers I have. The colors in a peacock, navy, green, brown, teal, they are my favorite colors. UGH it is so hard. I am stealing your centerpiece ideas...
