I got to thinking today about all of the off the wall, terrible things that have been happening to me lately.  This stuff is just not your everyday run of the mill bs, it's just not right!  Then I started to have myself a pity party because that's what I tend to do when things rain (actually pour this time) down on me.  But I have made some small steps toward looking at life different lately and I didn't want this new stuff to set me back, so for each major event, I thought of a positive outcome.  I think this was very theraputic.

1.  Negative:  My face became paralyzed 11 weeks ago due to stress that brought on Bell's Palsy.

Positive:  This isn't a permanent situation and am thankful that I am not one of the thousands who are suffering with true paralysis due to some sort of accident.

2.  Negative:  I may lose my job because of cutbacks.

Positive:  I may finally get the chance to be the stay at home mom that I couldn't decide on for sure for the last two years!  Maybe fate will make the decision for me.

3.  Negative:  I was the teller who was robbed at the bank I work at this past Friday.

Positive:  It was a note-passer with no weapon and no one was hurt.  It was the best case scenerio for what it was.

4.  Negative:  The day after the robbery, my daughter becomes very sick with pneumonia.

Positive:  She responded well to the breathing treatment in the Dr.'s office, making it possible to treat her at home instead of admitting her into the hospital.

My friends jokingly say I have had some really horrible luck, but if you turn the situation a bit, it can actually look pretty lucky.  Look at what some of the alternatives could be!  What a lucky person I am!   What I learned from this is that life is truely what you make of it and how you handle the cards that you're dealt.  No more pity parties for me!!
