At about 4am, Saturday February 28th, I woke up to go to the bathroom. I was having a lower backache, and I chalked it up to a bad sleeping position.... I peed, looked at my clock, and fell fast asleep. 10 MINUTES LATER, I woke up again, with stronger back pain.. I decided to get in the shower.. it didn't help. i laid back in bed, and started timing my contractions. They were 5 minutes apart, and I had about 8. I woke Dh up, and told him lets go... i was uncomfortable and excited, but not in pain.. Dh wanted a coffee, so we stopped at a gas station... While getting back into the car, I felt a pop and a trickle... I told Dh, I think my water broke... he says,"You sure?" And WHOOSH! i was soaked.. we hopped in the car, and made our way to the hospital... I was crying because I was so excited that we were going to meet our son. We get in the hospital, and the doc checks me.. I'm at 3cm, 100% effaced.. My SIL, who is also my coach, arrived then. I had my headphones on, and was singing through contractions... About 10 minutes later, I had such a strong urge to push... I was told not to push, as they weren't sure if I was fully dilated.. Doc checks me... I'm at 10.. Doc says let's do this, and i started to give thanks to God out loud... "Lord, thank you for today.. Thank you fo rmy husband, thank you so much for this..."15 minutes of pushing, and Ryan David Tucker came into the world at 7:40am.. He was angelic... I was so overwhelmed with emotion... even now I can't use anyother word to describe it but "Wow". He was 7 lbs 7 oz, 21 inches long... i am so blessed.. he is perfect in every way... all the worrying, hospital stays, pain, EVERYTHING, was so worth it, and I'd do it over and over again for the rest of my life. My labor was exactly what I'd hoped it be... All natural, beautiful, exciting, and so powerful. Thank you Lord for giving me the gift of being a mother!
