I know it's been a couple weeks since my last update (again) on this front.  Today, I actually have more energy than usual when it's 8:30 a.m.!  So, today's journal is about the changes I made to gain this energy at this ungodly hour (LOL) and what I've been doing in order to get closer to my goal weight/size.

Last week, when DH was on day shift, I did my usual 40 minutes of "it's not really dancing, but it kinda looks like it, and I'm sweating" after the kids were at school and DH at work.  Tuesday through Friday, as soon as I got home from taking DH to work I did this.  Now, I'd been doing this same thing on DH's day weeks for a couple months, but would take the entire night week off (since I get panicky thinking that someone might see me exercise. I know, it's my own personal demon. I'm working on it. Baby steps, baby steps.).  Well last night when I was cleaning up the kitchen - after the kids were in bed, so around 10:30 - I was listening to my iPod and decided I wanted to hear something peppy.  It was late and I was tired and really just wanted to go to bed, but I switched over to my "Dance!" playlist.  I went right to "Shake Ya Tailfeather" because it's fun, and "Sexy Ladies" is right after that.  This is probably where I made my knee sore!  But just that worked up a good sweat *and* all the dishes were washed, dried, and put away.  It was a little past 11 and instead of turning on the news I kept listening and dancing, browsing through the playlist and picking different songs here and there.  I eventually came to a recent favorite - "Unwritten".  Man that song just rocks!  And I was feeling down over the weekend (different story for another time) so I think I just needed to hear it.  I almost started crying because the lyrics just struck me for the first time.  I felt like (and was moving as if) I was standing on the pulpit singing with a choir.  I just went ahead and listened/danced to it twice!

Then I had the idea that I should make another playlist to last about 30 minutes, with "Unwritten" at the end, to dance to in the mornings when I'm the only one awake.  So the new playlist is called "Wake Up" and is as follows:

Eyes of the World ~ Grateful Dead

Sugar Magnolia ~ Grateful Dead

Fantastic Voyage ~ Coolio

Dragostea Din Tei ~ O-Zone (it's a Romanian song, but the YouTube link is hilarious!)

Candyman ~ Christina Aguilera

Ride Wit Me ~ Nelly

Unwritten ~ Natasha Bedingfield

28 minutes of good music to wake me up, and I worked up a good sweat with it this morning.  So.... this is my new school-morning routine.  Wake up at 5:50, make a pot of tea, eat breakfast, drink a cup of tea while watching the news - all that takes until about 6:25 - then turn on the music and dance around like a fool until the last song ends around 6:55.  I wake the kids up at 7, so this works out wonderfully!  On DH's day week, I wake him up right before the kids so he can get his coffee before I take over the kitchen to make breakfast and lunches.  On his night weeks, I just let him sleep  :-)

I'm calling this a non-scale victory!  I did jump on the scale last night right at 10 - which is a no-no! - and it said 205.  DH and I had lunch out yesterday while running errands, and the kids and I made pizza for dinner, so who knows what the scale would actually read even by tomorrow morning.  If I remember, I'll check and edit this journal to post the number; I can't believe it's too far off though, as AF has been here and gone already!

So, that's what's up with my weight loss journey thus far.  For my friends here (I leave these WLJs as 'public') I'll write another post tonight just for you about what went down over the weekend.  I feel relieved now, but spent the better part of Sunday evening worried sick and on the verge of tears.  Prayers were answered but more are needed ~ so come on back if you want a flaming scoop of drama involving my little brother.

Everyone else ~ have a wonderful week!!

**EDIT --->  This morning I had a grapefruit for breakfast.  After the kids were at school I had another cup of tea, then a bowl of cereal, and another cup of tea by 11:30.  (This is pretty normal for me to drink a 4-cup pot by myself. The kids split a cup with their breakfast.)  Since I needed a shower, I jumped on the scale right before getting in, and got a reading of 201.  That sounds more right!

What a wonderful idea with the wake up music!  I need something like that to get my butt moving earlier than it does now!  I just need to get my butt moving period actually!

I do have a goal of sorts though...HOPEFULLY...we can do a family vacation next summer, so I would LOVE to get down in size for that.  More energy to keep up with our 2 younger boys when we are out on the road...I'll really need it!!!

Have a great week!

Yeah, I can't believe it took me this long to realize that I really *need* that music if I'm going to wake up early enough to exercise!
