Let me be the first to say that I haven't always been one of the proverbial "patriotic."
This past election seemed to be pivotal in my life...{shakes head in sadness}.
I was an oppositional teenager, oh who am I kidding. I have always been oppositional. I've learned to curb my impulses around that, being a mom of a teenager, productive member of society and trying to be a good role model to my kids and youth in general.
I have made a transition from a solid button pushing, moral majority questioning liberal over the last several months. In retrospect, I realize, now, that I have never bought into it totally. I totally support the death penalty, I am against the abused welfare system, I SUPPORT the troops, I could go on, but anyone reading this, would get my point.
Ok, that being said, I have transitioned "out." I am not aligned with any party in particular, but I am "out" of "that" one for sure.
This last 3 weeks have left a hole in my heart. Just like me to get emotional first and action oriented second. Sniffling aside, I am so disgusted with Obama and the thugs (I use that term loosely), he has chosen to surround himself with.
The less than enthusiastic gestures Obama displayed with Prime Minister Brown are an embarassment. The return of Churchill's bust, the trivial and don't forget, useless, DVD's? Where was the popcorn, milkduds and coke to go with it?
It may seem trivial compared to the other nefarious acts of despicable behavior since taking the oath. I am embarrassed that this person has been selected to represent ME!
Where to start, or would it be safe to say that America is teetering on the brink of irrevocable consequences?
Talking to a friend tonight, I tried to reason with them when they struggled rationalizing why no one they know seems to get it. Why aren't people vocalizing their distrust, disgust, unwillingness to roll over? Why aren't people upset that the very foundation of this nation is being pulverized, to the core? Our constiutional rights are being trivialized while at the same time contradicted with ludacriss bans and the lifting of others. Which way is it? Freedom of choice, or freedom of "his" choice?
We have become a complacent society. We bury our heads in the sand at the slightest sense of confrontation, disagreement, only to re-surface, full of hot air, to bellow about our misfortunes, when it finally hits home!
We are unprepared. Unprepared for what? EVERYTHING!
This lacadaisical role the population has taken on, as we watch our flat screen tv's and ignore what is going on outside of our little world, has left us, as a nation, flabby.
Has anyone noticed the BDI? How about the stock market? How long are we going to ignore the big fat pink elephant in the room?
You can bet that people will gather in masses, like a nest of birds, mouths open, waiting to be fed, when these heinous bills roll into play.
I am urging all of you to write your governor's, your statesmen, your senators and emplore them to refuse assistance from this pork roast aka "stimulus."
Remember those values America was notorious for?
Integrity
Values
Morals
Honesty
Humility
Charity...need I go on?
How do you live with those values while holding your hand out, burying your head in the sand, and complaining about the cost of food, housing, gas, clothing?
This tax increase isn't going to effect just the wealthy.
The wealthy. The highest population of charitable contributors that out number the rest, in droves. The wealthy, who donate the most monies to foundations, charities, fundraisers. Have you thought about the effect their donations will have when they quit giving? When they quit giving b/c they can no longer claim it?
Where will those who benefit from the charitable donations turn when there is no money? Straight to the government. Whose taxes funds the government? Ours!
You can bet that all of the hybrid car owners out there will be taking their tax credit. You can plan that all of those "green" credits are going to be utilized to their advantages come April 15.
I ask you this...HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT?
Embryonic Stem Cell research. The ban has been lifted. How long ago was that controversy around ethical research? The poor lab mice, rats and monkeys that were farmed for the sake of research and killed the same way? What will we be cloning now?
HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT? Who is paying for that?
People get caught up in the "us vs. them" game. We have to remember, it's doesn't have to be one or the other. How about...YOUR OWN VALUES...YOUR OWN IDEALS...YOUR OWN OPINIONS?
Have we forgot the abilities the most intelligent mammals on earth are capable of ...THE POWER TO THINK, FEEL, FUNCTION, INDEPENDENTLY!
I know those of you enlightened enough to realize what's going on around us, may feel powerless, but there IS power in numbers.
Each political party only has 15% of the voting population, devoted to the party and not the person. That's 30% total.
Where is the other 70%?
I am one of the 70% and from my perspective, it doesn't appear that they have surrounded us. I am not a minority...I/WE SURROUND THEM! Those who feel hopeless need to know YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
The following are 9 basic principles around being a solid citizen of the United States. Those coincide with 12 basic values.
These aren't abnormal. These are the roots of our heritages, the basic systemic skills that this country was created on, what we wanted when we married and started families and what we hope to mentor to our youth. Why is that NOT the norm anymore?
The Nine Principles
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
12 Values
- Honesty
- Reverence
- Hope
- Thrift
- Humility
- Charity
- Sincerity
- Moderation
- Hard Work
- Courage
- Personal Responsibility
- Gratitude
If you identify with these very basic principles and values, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Get informed. Educate yourselves. Go to your state offices and VOICE your opinions.
It's time for us to stand up for our values. We live the hand we were dealt and stand to learn nothing if we keep relying on outside resources to pull us through.
If this applies to you and EVEN if it doesn't. Look into this website. See what people are saying, thinking and DOING!
