For the past several months I have been working on losing weight...I am down 34 lbs. with many more to go...
I exercise daily at the YMCA with both cardio and weights, I have started changing what I eat and eat smaller meals that are healthier... BUT I have plateaued and the scale DOESN'T want to budge. I am increasing how long I spend on the cardio machine and am getting ready to walk in my first 5K so I know I am so much healthier...when I started going to the YMCA a year ago I couldn't do 10 minutes on the treadmill and now I am up to an 18 minute mile ( a mile wouldn't have been THINKABLE then)...
MY hope is that someone has some suggestions on busting past this plateau and getting my scale heading back the right away again...
Please...I know there are other CM members in the same situation so please helpful suggestions would be great...and please vote popular so more see it and hopefully someone will have ideas!

I do the rotation of upper/lower body, and do abs 5x a week along with stretching... I've also tried a fast/cleanse with little help...Only increasing the cardio (mainly treadmill) to get ready for the 5K...also do High rep./low weight to help tone rather than increase bulk (suggested by trainer...)
Pushing the H20 majorly bought a Britta and am filling it a couple times a day...even the kids are drinking more H2O...
The high rep low weight deal isn't really all that true. You would bulk up at first as muscle built over fat, but once the fat is "attacked" by the muscle you trim back down. I've been studying up on it and I'm doing a new program based on this idea and seeing some amazing results.
If you consume the same amount of calories each day then your body gets used to functioning on that amount. Sometimes it helps if you adjust your calorie intack twice a week by adding 200 calories (make sure the days are seperated and not back to back). It sounds like you are doing great on improving your overall health...way to go!! Keep it up:)

My suggestion is this: stop adding time to your cardio and start adding time to your weight lifting. Cardio burns calories while you are doing. Muscle burns calories 24 hours a day. Work your lower body one day, your upper body the next, and rotate. Stick abs in there about 3-4x a week.
Also, sometimes it helps to do a cleanse of your system. You can do this by eating only fruit for a 3 days to a week, or do a 2-day fast where you drink only water, green tea, or fruit juice that is not from concentrate. Sometimes cleansing can be what gets us over the hump. Each season it's a good idea to do a whole body cleanse (you can buy a kit at WalMart for about $20 or do it by just eating fruits and veggies without the dressing or salt) to purge any toxins out. Spring water is the best to drink if you do any of these, but any water will work.
