As a former victim of abuse and from my experience being married to a man who saw nothing wrong with throwing me around and beating me down, I wanted so much more from Rihanna.  She's in a position, as a celebrity, to put a face on the abuse and give it a name for women all over the country who don't see a way out, who can't get the courage or strength to walk away.  I was hoping that she would stand up and say, "No it's not ok to hit women and No, I won't take it anymore" but like so many women who see no other way to life, she went back to her abuser.

She fell back, and so quickly, into a life where things will only get worse.  He's not in therapy, he's not trying to fix his problem, he's partying and riding jet skis like he didn't commit the horrible attack on her.  I know that I'm not her, and in reality I can't be upset or mad at her for her decision, but I can't respect her as a women any longer. A woman should stand up for herself and walk away from a relationship that causes pain. He's not going to change and it may seem like the good outweighs the bad, but in the long run, it may cost her her life.   Of course she won't think so, women never think the men they're with could be capable of hurting them, or their children, but look at all the recent murder suicides where family men killed everyone who counted on them and who loved them.

I pray that this isn't the case for Rihanna and I pray that if nothing else her situation has shown other women who are being abused that they're not alone and there is help, and maybe they will have the strength to leave.

I agree. I was sad to hear that she went back to him. I pray her situation doesn't get worse.

I am so frustrated  with this Rihanna and Chris. Not for myself but for the millions of young girls that idolize her, what the hell kind of roll model is she? She showed millions of girls that it's OK to get beat by a man and forgive him. In the United States alone a woman(girl) is beaten every SEVEN seconds! It seems to be OPEN SEASON on Women! I wear a purple ribbon every day in remembrance of all of  my sisters  that have been on the wrong side of a fist(or gun, knife). The ribbon is specificallyfor spreading awareness of this violence upon women. I am an active member of The NationalOrganization Of Woman and I recommend it for all woman and young girls.
